Adding a Fuel Filter??

I guess I'm too into maintenance or just have an itch to scratch but does anyone think it'd be worth the effort to add a replaceable fuel filter inline? Spare me fuel advice and discussion about replacing the sock filter on the pump (which basically is done only when you change the pump or if your pressure drops because it is that trashed).

I've added filters to ATVs which was easy as pie but I'm wondering if it's worth messing with on a car....?

not really needed unless you are having a problem with bad gas in your area

While you can tap into the fuel pressure line, it requires more than a 3$ plastic filter and 2 hose clamps
Would have to be a solid metal can suitable for high fuel pressures and tapping into the high pressure lines with correct fitting
Then there is the problem of where is there room to do this?

Best thing: is run fuel cleaner like Redline or BG44 or seafoam in the tank at max doseage
Example seafoam is 2 oz per gallon of gas- one 16oz can per 1/2 tank= cleaning strength
Do that every 5000 miles and be good to go

I run Seafoam every few tanks (approx. every 5).
My issue is I don't buy gas until I'm out of gas....when the light is on.
I've always heard doing so sucks up thrash...(not sure how accurate this is). So I was looking for a solution. The gas tank in this car is way too small, imo. Even with good mileage, I feel like I'm at the pump every 4 days.

You know that is really funny. I just changed the fuel filter in my F150 and when I dumped what remained in the filter, it was dark, crappy and had sand in it. I was amazed so much crap could get into your gas. It amazes me Acura does not make it a stand alone. My Maxima had a fuel filter inside the engine bay that was easy to replace. No way in the world you can figure out what is going into your tank from any gas station. And Seafoam will not do anything for sand and crap like that. Acura went ahead and made a simple 5 minute job much more than it should be.
