Adding fogs to '05 TL...stuff in hand

Ok,

So i ordered up a JDM//inspire kit.
Has the fogs and the wiring harness.

So who knows what wires go where:
These are only loose ends, other than 2 grounds.

Looks like white is 12v constant as fuse attached.
red ??
Do i just cut the ends off and then splice into factory wires or do these clips actually fit the 05 TL harness somewhere?

Also any tips tricks, hints or install threads somewhere?
Not exactly sure how I am to mount the fogs once i get bumper off and modified

Here is the supplied relay:

There is also a green connector, but that just plugs into the on off switch.

you should have two harnesses, one for the engine bay and one for the cabin

you'll need to cut off the connectors on there and do some splicing.

i assume the white wire goes to the battery and the red wire goes to your trigger wire

its all one harness attached in middle.
cabin has the switch and a ground looks about it.

The engine is whats pictured.
the other end of it is the quick connects for the back of the fogs.
Just need to know what wire is for what?

white...12v+ constant?
red switched for fogs?

There's two harnesses and they should connect by one wire.

Don't connect them yet, you'll have a harder time fitting everything through the firewall if its all one piece.

Only one wire needs to go through the firewall.

if you can lay the wire all out i can show you where everything goes, but based off those two wires, its probably the same as i stated in the first post

Thanks pretty much all I need.
My harness looks pretty similiar, but different.

I'll send a pic, I guess I can test real easy prior to actual instal and wiring!

best of luck!

I think GP is right. White is definitely power (hence the fuse). black is ground, red has to the trigger it's the only explanation

So here is the full harness, looks like the way it's wired the fuse and relay will be in the car. Any good place to pick up the 12v for the white wire? I am just running LED's for the fogs so only pulling 4-5A max (1.6A each LED). Or should i just run longer wire to the battery?

and where is the red wire going again?

You're fine to put the white wire to a constant on fuse using an "add-a-fuse", such as the power seats.

As for the red wire, it depends on how you want your fogs to function.

If independent meaning you can turn on and off as long as the car is ON, put the red wire to fuse #32 with an add-a-fuse.

If you want them to be dependent of the parking lights, put it to a parking light wire (any red with black stripe wire).

Ok, thanks....
If the white goes to a constant 12v source, can I accidentally leave the fogs ON with car off? Would I want it to go to a 12v switched?
Or does the red wire to a switched source turn relay off when car is off

I probably would wire them so I can turn them on independently from the stock fogs or parking lights.

How the relay works:

Once the trigger wire (red) detects signal, it will switch the relay on which allows the 12V (white wire) to provide power to the fogs. If there is no signal from the red wire, the white wire is not going to power on your fogs.

The only way you can leave your fogs on with the car off is if you set the trigger wire to a constant on fuse. That way you have 24/7 control of your fogs even if the car is off.

The parking light option is pretty OEM, it's what I use.
Whenever I turn on my low beams, the fog lights automatically come on. And in the daytime when the parking lights are off, the fog lights stay off (even though the switch is set ON). Then when I want to turn on my low beams again, the fogs automatically turn on.

Muchas Gracias!

So any idea what fuse # to go off of for the white 12v+ constant?

I think I like them to come on like u when the park lights come on.
is that red black wire under dash somewhere as well?

Check out the fuse diagram on the fuse cover.

There should be a total of 4 you can use, like driver seat recline, driver seat slide, and passenger seat recline, and passenger seat slide.

All these are constant on 24/7.

Red/black wire you can find throughout the car. There's one going into the VSA button, you can tap into that.

So I keep going back and forth on the smaller fog option.

For an 05 TL do the 03-05 4door accord fogs fit fine just some trimming of the actual fog?

Inspire fogs are MUCH easier to fit right.
All you cut is an opening in the bumper, and the grill.

Most accord fog installs don't fit right unless a lot of time is put into it.
You have to cut the opening in the bumper, then you have to trim the fog housing until it looks good (most time consuming part), and then you have to cut the grill. After everything is cut, you have to figure out how to mount it so it doesn't fall out.

I've done over 6 accord fog installs and about 3 inspire fog installs.
I recommend inspire fogs if someone wants me to install them

It's all preference, I prefer the OEM look of the accord fogs whereas the inspire fogs give a much more modded look.

FYI

If you're going to use the Park Lights to trigger the fog lights, then there's no reason to run any wire(s) into the passenger area of the car. All the wires should stay under the hood near the battery, and you do not need a switch.

1. Simply connect the white wire straight to the positive terminal of battery, since it's already fused.

2. Splice the red trigger wire into the park light wire (ground side after the bulb).

3. Ground the black wire.

Finsh.

that's assuming you don't want to run a switch

if you want it to automatically come on with the parking lights and not be able to turn it on/off with the switch, yes all the wiring will be done in the engine bay.

if you want to have a switch, it's better to run the wires inside the car anyway since the switch is activated by the parking light wire (trigger wire).

trigger wire -> switch -> relay -> fogs.

ladder logic

is there signal from trigger wire?
no? then switch is not powered, relay is not powered, fogs not powered.

yes? then switch is powered. is the switch set on or off?
off? relay is not powered, fogs not powered.

on? relay is activated, fogs turn on.

If you want control via a switch the proper way is still everything under the hood but the red trigger wire to reduce the likely hood of an electrical fire in the passenger compartment (low amperage).

Engine compartment

1. White wire straight to positive terminal of the the battery.

2. Ground the black wire.

Passenger compartment

1. Run the red wire into the passenger compartment on the driver side.

2. Connect the red wire to the factory fog light switch pin #5 or #12 terminal.

A. #5 terminal wire is the trigger wire if the trigger wire works by a ground or negative.

B. #12 terminal wire can be use if the trigger wire works by supplying a hot or positive but you must cut the #12 terminal wire (after the connector-leave enough wire so you can connect the trigger wire to it) so it no longer grounds. Then connect the positive trigger wire to #12 terminal wire on the fog light switch side of the cut wire (not on the grounding side of the cut wire).
