Exclamation Add or Not?: Spoiler on 04 TL

I really like the look of a spoiler on the TL and I have been shopping around looking at some. After markets are cheaper and if you get ABS plastic painted, factory colors are available to order. I've seen them for as little as $120 shipped.

The big ?? is, aftermarket or factory? and has anybody done this??

I just bought a lip spoiler for my 05 TL. Waiting for the weather to get better to install.

If you were local i would swap trunks with you. I'm not fond of the wing. But to answer your question. If you could swing for oem spoiler yeah, if not an aftermarket one would suffice. You couldnt tell the difference except oem has an "A" underneath the wing.
I bought an oem replica wing before and the paint and quality is fairly good except for the cheap led lights they used but you dont have to worry since the TL doesnt have it on the wing. Overall, you cant go wrong with either but oem has a better value when you sell the car.

Neo, I think that the spoiler give the TL a really good "finished" look. Whether you go with the decklid lip spoiler or the winged spoiler, you really can't go wrong with either.

I'm a fan of the wing spoiler. However, IMO you should only do this is you can get the factory spoiler that's already color matched, etc. That thing is too big to be messing around with an aftermarket version which may not look/fit right. I had mine put on at the time I purchased the car:

This is the one I'm looking for, like this wing spoiler. The company says it's a guarantee to fit and quality and the paint is the same as factory... But man I sure am a fan of name brands and OEM parts. Thanks guys for the input. I'll let you know how my decision turns out.

I went A-Spec without any type of trunk spoiler.

IMO: Looks cleaner without it.

I am satisfied with mine (TYPE-S lip) but I would be just as pleased with the base lip or the wing. To be honest, I would prefer the wing....but i bet if my car had come with the wing, i would want the lip Basically I think whatever you decide to go with will look great

just so you can see

I love the looks of the lip spoiler. I plan on getting one soon I was just wondering on the install difference from the ebay lip spoilers to the OEM lip spoilers. How do they install, are they the same?

Go with the aftermarket wing spoiler. I put one on my 04 WDP TL and it looks great. I see from your avatar that you also have WDP - the colour match was amazing. You can't tell it's not OEM. Mine was from a seller on eBay called The Car Candy Store.

Thanks a bunch for the input and the pics guys. I was worried that the spoiler, whether OEM or Aftermarket, that the color would be a little off. Not because of the paint job on the spoiler but the fact that my car still has the original 2004 paint. Of course its really hard to fade white paint, I think.

I was worried about the same thing and mine is also a 2004. I guess you are right that white doesn't fade much because the match is spot-on.

Just in my opinion, spoiler looks ugly on our cars. The Type-S rear spoiler/lip looks nice and clean, but the wing looks too big and to ricey.

There not that ricey, but they make our car lose the agressive and luxury look. Once again, just in my opinion

Well the lip spoiler is clean looking but not really that noticeable from around the car as the wing is.
How is the installation of the lip spoiler?

I personally like the rear lip spoiler. Does anyone know the Aziner who extended the rear trunk lip.. that was pretty sweet. I'm pretty sure it was an Aziner.. not 100% though.

The wing spoiler follows the lines of the TL beautifully. You won't regret installing it.

My opinion is the lip spoiler... and just go aftermarket, there is not a dam difference trust me. But I don't think they make a TYPE S replica only the decklid one. The Wing Spoiler is just too overbearing for our body style.

Not to mention if you decide to do a roof spoiler, I think it looks sexier with a trunk lip spoiler than a 2 enormous wings. My opinion of course.

My Desert Mist TL had the factory wing spoiler on it when I bought it last week. I think it looks pretty cool. That might be one of the main reasons why I bought that car instead of all the black ones I looked at.
