Thanks for the update. I was wondering how long it would take them to add the 2005 listings.

my main reason for checking was to see what the possibility was of getting the navtraffic from the RL into the TL... it seems as though they use different XM rcvrs... and although the DVD drive is POSSIBLY the same... it is impossible to switch over to the navtraffic without spending a considerable amount of money (several thousand)....

on the other hand, somebody had wanted to know what the possibility of getting the zagat guide from the MDX into the TL... I think this is still a possibility... I am still awaiting somebody with an 05 MDX to give me teh file names that are on the DVD........

but, yes i agree, the drives are different.... either way i sitll think that we may be able to get teh zagat guide which is the goal of some people on acurazine...

the others who have expressed the want for the navtraffic arnt getting it without shelling out the money

different drives, mean possible different hardware, keep in mind the DVDs have a "label", RL is black label I believe, TL is white label, MDX is orange.

The Accord uses a White label disc, thats why it works in the TL.

Straight from Acura, "Note : Orange, black and white-labeled DVDs are not interchangeable. "

Why? Software is designed to be hardware specific, unless you actually swap the hardware, its highly unlikely to near impossible that it will work.

That is correct cTLgo... but I am basing my suspicions on the other users who have been able to load the accord and tsx navi software into the TL - and those who have been able to modify the startup screen (displays the acura navigation) and now displays an image of their choice...

I'm still dumbfounded as to why Acura continues to "pick and choose" navi SOFTWARE features from model to model.

i can understand features that are hardware dependent... otherwise it makes no damn sense.

they've been doing this since '99.

they like to make things difficult for us.... even more confusing is that its all alpine in the end...... the drive is alpine, the software is alpine... just make one thing

i think something as big as teh navtraffic should be an upgrade option for people like us (i know it wont happen, and probably isnt possible without a lot of money) but look at BMW - they offered bluetooth to older bmw drivers... same with sat radio.... not saying that i want to be like bmw in anyway..... but just that they should offer these at a premium price to us...

espcially since, standardizing through all the models would reduce production costs, someone in the chain somewhere isn't thinking

Yep..... I mean look at toyota/lexus they have the same navi in all their cars - just this past model year they did start to introduce their "second generation" nav in some cars... so thats understandable.....

but infiniti/nissan use the same nav in all their cars....

confusing
