Acura TL
The first Acura TL was introduced in 1995, replacing the Acura Vigor. (Though labeled as the TL here in the United States, the same vehicle was also sold in Japan as the Honda Inspire and as the Honda Saber.) The Acura TL was available in two versions: a 2.5 TL and a 3.2 TL. (The numbers denoted the size and type of engine in each version--176-horsepower/2.5-liter inline-five-cylinder and 200-horsepower/3.2-liter V-6, respectively.) Both models were available throughout the Acura TL's first generation, which sold through 1998, with few, if any, changes occurring during that time period. The second-generation Acura TL was sold from 1999 to 2003.
During this time period, many improvements were made, and some first-time features were also implemented. These included variable valve timing; specifically that of Honda's VTEC version, and the option to have navigation system installed. The Type-S version was introduced during this time as well, in the 2002 model year. No significant changes occurred in 2003.
The third generation of Acura TL cars began in 2004, and lasted until 2008. During this time, changes to exterior styling, engine performance, and suspension made the Acura TL more noticeable. In addition, standard features were increased, and the car became available both in five-speed automatic and a six-speed manual transmission. Also during this time, the base Acura TL and the Type-S Acura TL were introduced. The base models for 2004 and 2005 had engine horsepower of 270; 2006 and later models only had 258. This only applied to the horsepower; the engine itself did not change. Engines in the Type-S Acura TL, however, were equipped with a V-6 engine, 3.5-liter, with 268 horsepower.
Additionally, the Type-S also featured a sport-tuned suspension, and Brembo high-performance brakes. Quad tailpipes were also available for a change in styling elements; however, none of this was available at the first part of the model cycle; they did not show up until 2007. During the 2007 model cycle, there were few changes, although some mild redesigning did occur during the midpoint of the model year. This included minor changes in interior and exterior styling features as well as an upgrade in the navigation system.
The TL has consistently been Acura's best-selling model, and it has ranked very highly as one of the best-selling luxury sedans in the United States behind the BMW 3 Series.

also the HP rating is essentially 258 for all base models. in 06 they just adjusted them since they changed the rating standard.
forgot the optional aspec pkg that was available too (04-06(?)). 6MT base 04-06, had brembos, beefier sway bars, limited slip differential...i'm sure a few other goodies as well compared to the base AT.
yeah...i was wondering...what is the point of the post?
