Still not true, evidenced by the cars that were nominated.

Dude, winners don't have to have any changes. Read the magazine.
See, I can argue and debate with people with an open mind but for you to dispute a fact from a non-biased source, is childish.

Looking at depreciation, the TL gets 3 stars, the GS (and damn near every Lexus) 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best.

-sigh-

You are misunderstanding me.

Previous winners automatically get in. But new or changed models don't automatically get in. TSX, TL and RSX weren't selected simply because they're new or have major changes.

For example, the very popular Lexus ES had major changes for 2004 too as in a new driveline but wasn't nominated.

1/2 of Acura's line got nominated, not because they're new, but because C&D editors were impressed with them when first tested unlike the revised offerings from Lexus included previous year loser GS.

Not to say the TL has great depreciation, but how do they measure depreciation in a car that has been out less than 5 months?

As for 3 stars...the LS430 got 3 stars too...so I guess the LS430 sucks?

The Acura TL is a stop gap for us as a our 530 lease ends and we were thoroghly disappointed with the available cars (new 5, E series, 3 series, C series, antique GS, A6, A4, etc.)

The new GS, an '06, has already been announced, shown at auto shows, etc. It also has a 5.1 audio system. But with features the TL doesn't. It is a more expensive car, competiting with the new RL.

Basically, if you can wait a year, and you want a GS class car, wait a year. The new GS, the new RL, a new M45, new A6, enhancements to the 5-series, the new MB CLS, etc. will be available.

If you need to jump know...the TL is a good choice. In any case, it was our choice...

If you get the TL you can use the money saved for an extra vacation. My wife wants to go to Greece...

TL vs GS

It all boils down to $$$. This is a apple and orange comparison. The new GS will probably cost 15-18K more than the TL. I'm perfectly happy to be in a TL that is trimmed out very nice VS. great to save 15-18K. As for engines, I'll put our TL engine against any Lexus V6 engine. Acura wins hands down. Just my 2 cents.
