I believe many 04 TL owners received a complementary pen from Acura. Did any 05 owners receive it as well?

I did call Acura CS and was told that they have NEVER sent anything to 04-up TL owners. That's why I ask here.

I got a pen in the leather holder for the owner's manuel and everything else. It's kinda thick though so I just leave it in the car. I'm not sure if it's CS who supplies the pens. It's probably individual dealerships.

Oh, but this is a space pen though... Writes upside down, in space and underwater. I'm on the waiting list for a spacce flight and the paper keeps getting wet when I try and write under water???

It's the gift/option/benefit from your local dealer. Some dealers give you one time free oil/filter change, some do free oil twice, some do offer free mats...

If this is something Acura is supposed to provide to the customers, you will see this pen listed on the sticker or inside your leather case of owner manuals, and every TL'r will have one. Otherwise, it's just the bonus from dealers, and it doesn't mean you should absolutely have one if someone has it. IMO.

With my 05 TL, I didn't get a pen, but I did get two Acura key chains with the dealers info etched on the back.

My dealer also gave us free oil changes for two years. Interestingly, with the 99TL I bought from the same dealer, I got complete maintenance work for the first three years. That included the full 30K maintenance and all A&B maintenance instances in between. They must have taken a bath on that deal.

If that's the case, I only got a keychain from the dealer. No trunk mats. I got "almost" a tankful of gas. The dealer offered me to go to a gas station but it was late and cold and I just wanted to go home, so I declined. I don't know if they put premium or regular gas in the tank initially. I sure hope so.

You know I read sometime back that NASA spent millions in designing a pen which will write in space upside down, under water and all weather condition. Russians saved millions by using a pencil for the same stuff. ha ha.

I have a 2004 SSM Dynamic Package (Canada). When I picked her up, she had a full tank of gas, mud guards and floors mats at no extra cost. Also 2 years free oil changes. A few weeks later, my space pen arrived in the mail.

It was Acura Canada who sent the pens. They arrived in separate packages 2 weeks apart.

Oh yes - forgot about the 2 key chains that came with the car too. Had a choice of 2 types.
The pen is not the same as in your photo. Mine is silver coloured with gold colour trim. It has the Acura logo and the word ACURA inscribed on it. It came in a really cool triangular (pyramid) shaped box. I didn't ask for it. It was sent by Acura Canada with a nice little letter thanking me for buying the new TL. Here is what is written on the little card that came in the box.

That's a cool looking key chain. Do the top and bottom separate from each other? I just checked eBay and none are listed. I'll keep checking.

yes the top and bottom seperate... this is real handy to detach your car keys from the rest of your keys if you need to

i have several fisher space pens and i will tell you the pens are awsome, they will write just about anywhere on anything.... and although your right a pencil will do just about everything, if the pencil were to break you were sol. as you cant really sharpen them in space, all the shavings would go everywhere, and clog systems. plus a sharp pencil has the ability to poke holes in this, (space suits for one) and in that kind of enviroment, that wouldnt be a good thing... also the fisher space pen will write over the top of grease and oil and other nasty stuff... pencils wont...

Yes, they detach. I love the keychain. They don't currently have an Acura one in their listings. When I got mine they had several. Best bet is to email the seller I'm sure he'll get more.

I also got a tin of chocolate chip cookies but the mailman left them outside my garage door on the ground.
I was going for a drive and entered the garage thru the house (not knowing that the cookies were there), opened the garage door with the electronic opener and backed out. I was startled to hear a loud crunch and feel my new TL bump, like I ran over something.
I got out and found a large flattened box with the remains of the tin and cookies inside. Luckily there was no damage to the TL.
Next time, I want the pen and they can keep the fucking cookies..
