Acura paint job suggestions needed!!

So I want to change the paint job on my 08 Acura TL. I was thinking matte white or a cherry red with black wheels. Any suggestions? Has anyone seen any cars with either of these paint jobs?

u prolly would be better off selling yours and buying the car of the color you want. I personally would never spend the money on a paint job. that's just my

Yeah, no way would I throw down $$ to repaint a car that's only 5-6 years old. I would mod it like others have suggested. You can do quite a lot for the price of a decent paint job. However if money isn't an object or your just hell-bent on changing the color for some reason Ill suggest some type of Red. I don't think the TL pulls off the Matte look all that well.

I was thinking the same way when I first bought my TL (SSM). I hated silver colors because its just a boring color. However, after doing all the mods (still need a little more); I am glad I didnt go through with changing her color.

I agree with the other guys, unless you're planning on turning the car into a show car/project car/non-daily-driver, don't spend the money on the paint job. My car has 150k on it, is practically a decade old and is really starting to show it. I was considering getting the car repainted, expecting it to be $2500-$3k, then I got an esitmate for $4500. I ended up spending the money on new headlights, tail lights, j-pipe, catback, wheels, floor mats, shift knob, steering wheel, and a couple other OEM replacement parts to freshen the car up.

However, if you are considering matte white, there's a fairly inexpensive, yet durable, alternative: https://www.dipyourcar.com/product.p...&cat=15&page=1

If your bored of the color, try plasti-dipping your whole car. I thought it was a joke when I first saw the post on the BMW forum but when I actually saw the pics, it looked CLEAN. If I remember correctly, it was a 08 335 plasti-dipped in Matte White. After he was tired of the matte white, he peeled it off and his paint looked mint. They sell whole kits for cars for around $500. Can't find the exact post but heres something similar http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=706879

Gotta agree with the above post! Plastidip.com might be the way to go for you. Plus I have a friend on another Acura forum who re-painted his wife's TL. It came out great, never seen another one like this one (Brandy red wine) beautiful Im telling you. Talked to him the other day and he just told me the guy screwed him and the paint job was crap. He now has to spend 4 - 5k just to get it fixed. And mind you this was the wife's car so you know he hurting!! LMAO

Yeh, my brother is taking classes on body work and my uncle has buddy with a shop. A proper paint job is 3-5k at least. The lower end if your staying Oem color since most likely the whole car won't be repainted (door jambs, trunk, engine bay, etc.). If someone quotes you lower than this amount, most likely its macco or they're just going to spray over and it will peel in a year or so. lol

Why not try Plasti-Dip its such a great alternative to painting your car and it costs like a couple hundred too and you can paint it in your driveway too

The benefits of wrapping/ plasti-dip would be that you can go back to your original car's paint color whenever you feel like it. It'll also protect the original paint so that's another plus.

Really considering trying this.

My paint is in good shape minus a scuff or two on the pass fender/door and the front bumper from years of road abuse.

I've wanted to get a new bumper and paint it, but this looks promising. Much better than the usual matte white.

The Plasti-dip stuff is awesome! Plus, the car kit comes with its own spray gun system, so no extra equipment or compressor is needed. There are a ton of videos on how to properly spray your car on youtube if you need a DIY. There is a company called Alsa that sells something close to plasti-dip, but it is stupid expensive. I would do the matte white plasi-dip, it looks great and it seems to hold up extremely well!

Just curious, if you do a color change with plasti-dip, what happens when you get an inspection or get pulled over, and the exterior color doesn't match the registration?

^i'd imagine you just open your door and show the officer your mismatched colored door jambs.

i would not plastidip an entire car. that just sounds like a nightmare. you want a different color car? PAINT IT.

I feel like the officer would still hassle you because the majority of the car is a different color.

But anyways, why is plasti dipping a car a nightmare? It's pretty simple. If anything PAINTING a car is a nightmare. All that sanding and prep work

hey now...didn't i sell you my gopro? you're supposed to agree with me!

i don't see your logic about why the cop would hassle you about having a diff color car. people change their paint all the time.

why is plastidipping a nightmare on an entire car? give it a try and find out.

Idk everyone I know that has color changed their car has updated their registration as well to avoid issues. But I'm in NY so things are a little more strict here I guess

And yeah I know plastidip is a nightmare to remove but with a compressor and gun and a little practice, it goes on easy.

of course it goes on easy. taking it off is the issue.

taping off the entire car to spray, having it start to crack/peel/flake over time, not being able to wash and wax the car properly afterwards...all that stuff is not for me.

yeah and i repainted my car a different color and didn't update anything. must be a state to state thing like you said.
