This car will may never have a V8. The RL is not even close to being a V8 yet.

That is a mistake though, it is using the tranny from the TL. Pretty much same setup as the TL. 280HP 3.5L V6 with 5AT.

Not as much as you'd think. TSX has always been a porker, given the size and 4cyl engine, but is even more so now in the redesigned. Auto car is 3480lbs, same weight as a 3G TL 6MT. The addition of the 3.5 V6 will add at least 50lbs to the nose, probably more like 80 (+2cylinders, beefier trans and cooling package, perhaps a larger battery??).

Sure, the 3.5 will have more grunt, but I'm not running out to trade in the '06 6MT TL just yet.

Like many have said, I'm hopeful. I'm still happy with my '07 TL-S, but always looking to see what's out there. I really don't like the looks of the 4G ata all. I've had a TSX loaner and it works for me except for the 4 cyl engine. It even has enough room in the back for the car seats.

In my opinion the TSX looks much better than the new TL, so if they throw the 6-spd in the mix, I'll have something to consider....thankfully.

The reason why they didnt put the 6MT is because they didnt want to effect the TLs sales and wat not

NO WAY!! I was days from buying an 09 TSX when I found my 07 TL-S. The ONLY thing that made me hesitate on the TSX was the engine. Now here's a question....do you think they will let you get the 6spd manual, or is the V6 option going to be mated with only an auto?

Right now it looks like your only option is a V6 5AT.. I don't know why Honda/Acura has not come out with a 6AT yet as most of their competition meets or exceeds 6 gears. It wouldn't make sense to put a 6AT in the TSX and leave it out of the TL.. Unless that's an upcoming change for the 2010 TL.. The 2010 TL will have a 6MT option, maybe it'll have 6AT as well!

I just drove an 09 TSX for the last 2 days while my 07 TLS was in for service. Man this car handles wonderfully. Its so agile and the low end torque is so greatly improved over the 08 model. The problem is it sounds like a 4cylinder when rev'ed hard. Plopping a V6 in this car will really make it scream. Overall I like this car alot but its still not quite as nice, interior wise as a 3G TL. I am keeping my 07 TLS for a long time, especially in this economy!

Nice to hear about the V6 TSX

Acura should seriously consider turbo charging the 3.7 Type-S, that's just a wonderful idea. Just look at how amazing the 335i engine is, if the new Type-S is turbo charged then it will definitely catch up to the competition since currently most of the other cars in the TL's class is faster.

A 3.7 turbo Type-S with SH-AWD....I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.

i think what stoped them from adding a v6 was because of the price of the TL, it would of been too close if they added this into the 1st gen tsx. but since now that the TL price has been jacked way up its possible for them to fill in the gap between the tsx and tl with a v6 model.

That article is wrong, it is in fact the 5AT tranny from the TL. I read the press release at vtec.net.

Acura's timing is perfect. Looks like they are targeting all those of us that bought the 04/05 TL. Our cars are 4 and 5 years old and they know we would not settle for nothing less than a V6. We'll have to wait and see how fast the V6 TSX runs.
However and on a personal note, I am looking at the CTS-V. The interior is holding me back (hard to top the 3g TL).

Since the 4G TL has moved upmarket, Acura was left with no real luxury-sport-sedan because the 4G TL is now more luxury oriented and less sporty, both in looks and feel. This V6 powered TSX will fill that gap nicely, my only complaint is the lack of a manual.

Looks like the V6 TSX is the replacement for the 3G TL, the 4G TL is the replacement for the RL, and the RL will probably move upmarket to compete with cars like the BMW 7 series, Audi A8, and Lexus LS, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a V8.

I wonder what kind of 0-60 and qm times we are looking at with the V6 TSX.

I don't like the idea of the TL getting a V8, Acura should make cars fast by using innovative engineering not by putting hugeass engines in like Dodge or Chevy, anyone can make cars faster by increasing displacement.

At the very least, Acura needs a V8 to even be considered for Tier 1.

I am a little anxious to drive an 09 TSX w/ the 3.5 V6. I had an 09 TSX loaner today and honestly, the only complaint I really have is that it was underpowered (subjectively speaking). I really don't want to hear a screaming 4 cylinder engine just to merge onto a highway.

I used to dog the tsx and now I like the tsx the best outta the new line. Def would consider a tsx with a v6.......

Just don't forget that the TL has always outhandled the TSX even though the TSX "felt" like it handled better due to it's smaller size.

Now that it's going to weigh the same or more as the 3G TL, I would be it won't touch a 3G TL in the corners.

I wonder why they didn't go with a 3.2 engine for the TSX instead of giving it a bigger engine than the 3G TL?

A J32A4 maybe? The J32 is still a very modern engine, shame they're abandoning it.

A smart move and possibily my next Acura. The TL originally attracted me in 2k because of its value for the money. I've owned 2 others since (04-08) but with the 4g it is moving too far away from this formula. However, a V6 TSX Tech might just be in a price range I am willing to pay. Here's hoping that an "S" version will be offered at some point!

Anyone notice the windshield wipers that open and close like the old Buick Regals use to in the early 90's???

Look at the front of the passenger and driver window trim molding. That is odd when the doors are open.....I guess we should expect this look on the TL in 2010 when the new 6 speed comes out....

I remember reading a thread on AZ about Acura ditching their V8 project, if that holds true, we obviously won't be seeing a motor upgrade for the TL.
