In the spring of '05 when my wife's 328i Bimmer left her stranded with a blown water pump (damned thing had plastic impeller blades), we went looking for new cars on the same day. The TSX was about the same size as the 3-series BMW so she wanted to check them out. On the way to the dealer, she asked if she could drive mine part of the way - my '04 manual. She really liked it.

When she test drove a TSX it did nothing for her. Nice car, but with such a small engine, and 4-cylinders to boot, she was not at all thrilled. She kept saying how much she liked my car. She did like the size of the TSX but liked the more upscale interior of the TL which she did from the moment I drove mine home on the day I bought it. The TSX was pretty anemic in the engine department.

The following week we returned and she drove, and we bought, an '05 automatic TL for her. She loves it. Now if the TSX is going the route of a larger, more powerful engine and if they have upgraded the interior and if they are going to offer a manual transmission, that might be my next car when the time comes.

Glad to see them do this.

Acura is so annoying slow about things like this. A V6 engine should have been an option for the TSX one or two years ago. I hope they make cosmetic changes to the TL at it's mid cycle refresh. I have an 05 TL and it's almost paid off. I'll drive it for a couple of years without a car note but after that I want to get a new car with the latest gadgets. The TSX may be a viable choice if the current 4G TL has the same look.

That TSX V6 may be a good replacement for the 3G TL, as the new 4G TL is too big, heavy and pretty ugly (inside and out) while the new TSX is about the size of the 3G TL. The TSX is much better looking than the 4G TL.

I really liked the original TSX with the 6M, but got the 3G TL for the torque w/the 5A because my wife thought she would be driving "my" car more.

Wow, putting our engine in a smaller lighter car. Should be quick!

I really like that cover on the engine. When this comes out, I'm going to need to order one of those covers and toss the big plastic one we have on our car.

I, like many others who own a TL, thought about buying a TSX but the 4 banger killed it for me right off the bat. They should have done this a long time ago but like someone else said Acura is always behind on stuff like this. Anyways mate that V6 to a 6 speed with SH-AWD and Im sold on the new TSX.

I spent at least 20-30 minutes looking at the 4G TL from every angle on Saturday. I can not do the 4G!

These two pics sold me with the 280hp V6 coming for 2010.

I'm interested in finding out what they have in store for the TL & RL 2010 models ... hard to go back to TSX after having TL for a while, but that's me ...

I was given a TSX loaner while my 3G TL in the shop for maintenance service. It's quite fast during take off. With the addition of the V6, it's going to fill the gap left behind when the TL move up market. The TSX exterior is growing on me. But I still like the interior of the 3G TL. IMO, it's a step above the current TSX.

Make that a +1 for me too.

I mostly liked this TSX when it was intro'd (grill is still an issue, but the only one) but the 4 banger just didn't cut it. After I saw the 4G TL I figured my next ride would be coming from somewhere else. I just can't embrace the 4G TL looks.

But now, with a 6 being available, the TSX and Acura comes back on the radar for me. Add at least SH-AWD and, ideally, a 6MT and Acura will likely keep me in the fold.

it feels like the tsx is now the tl... and the tl is now the rl... and the rl will kiss the dust soon

ps. I laugh because the damn accord has had the 6cyl as an option, and now they've smartened up....

Acura is trying to gear us TL modders to the TSX and make the TL have more of a Lexus GS'ish appeal. The RL they are probably hoping but can't see it happening move to the LS range.

This is intriguing. The europeans will have the same engine options AND SH-AWD.

It will be interesting to see if any of the wagon versions of our TSX and our Accord come to the states with the same engines and SH-AWD.

Agreed. What is the weight difference between the 3G TL and new V6 TSX?

Same here...I think that it's a smart move. TSX in black with those RJ Legends but with a V6 looks pretty sweet!

On another level, to me it bodes well for a up & coming 4G TL-S with some serious power gains.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but did you notice at the end of the article, it said:

"Acura also made an announcement at the Chicago event today that it will update almost every sedan and SUV in its lineup for the 2010 model year."

Anybody know what that's all about?

Mid model change as per the 5 year cycle acura uses. 3 years orignal design, then the second year it's refreshed slightly, new grille, headlights, interior updated, etc.

Let's hope it includes doing something about the 4g TL, even though it's gonna go on its 2nd year.
