Accident with loaner TSX - need advice

i just got into an accident with my dealer's loaner TSX, is my insurance going to cover this or how does it exactly work? i've never gotten into an accident before, let alone a car that's not mine...at least i'm ok tho.

it happened today during the crazy snow storm before they got a chance to clear out the roads. i was trying to stop but the TSX refused and i rearended a jeep. this makes me sure of one thing, winter tires are a must and OEM tires are garbage. i never felt out of control with my TL on winter rubber but first snow experience with OEM tires? can't stop when i need to...it was really scary

your insurance should cover it, but your rates are gonna go up since you rear ended the jeep

You need to contact the dealer immediately and inform them of the accident. They will likely file a claim against your insurance, so it's probably best for you to pre-empt the situation and file a claim with your insurance agency first.

fwd drive does help when starting out and to keep the car from spinning or losing control... but no car can out perform simple physics... and here, the coefficient of friction is what matters and oem all season tires lack it in true snow weather.

Sounds like a PICNIC. Problem In Chair, Not In Car. Sorry to make a harsh comment like this, but if you can't look at the problem objectively, you won't learn anything from it. How many cars on all-season tires made it home w/o issue?

I passed 10 accidents yesterday, almost all of them, 4WD SUV's. I took my 1989 2WD Chevy S-10 to work yesterday and had no problem on regular all-season tires.

My brother-in-law works for Enterprise. They also get $$$ for time out of service. You should call the dealer and get things moving ASAP.

I probably shouldn't hit the submit reply button, but this is one of my pet peeves.

Thank you for saying what so many people were probably thinking.

This is a problem in society these days - blame something else - can't be ME! Must be the car. Have I ever smacked someone? ABSOLUTELY. But what Kilroy is saying is true and should be practiced. Analyze what happened and see what could have been done differently.

Ask yourself:
Following too close?
Too Fast?
Could I have gone to the left or right?
Why the hell am I driving this TSX?

Even if the person in front did something totally stupid - driver in rear has to react appropriately - they will be at fault otherwise.

PICNIC - I like that one.

Also you could get whacked for paying a deductible... e.g., 500 bucks...

And now do you need another laoner? See what they tell you about insurance. A lot of us take them and not know how the insurance works... I would ask. But it is like closing the barn after the horse took off.

Look at the bright side, if you had your car maybe you would have had the same thing happen. This way, you can walk away from that car and not have the repair headache.. Sure you got the expense, but you do not have to rent a car for a week or 2 to get it repaired.
