About to pull the trigger on a Thule Ascent Box...

On auto anything, there is a 15% sale that will allow me to get this Thule 1600 ascent cargo box for 370, tax free, free shipping.

Before everyone flames me for how they look, just know that I live in Colorado and this is necessary for skiing! I dont want to scratch up my leather.

Anyway, I have seen a couple of threads about the thule boxes, but nothing definitive. Anyone have any thoughts on this box for the TL?

personally i wouldnt have anything on or touching my car. If I really wanted something, i would get a tow hitch attached to the car and then find something that can mount on the hitch behind the car.

but the tow hitch would look ugly? esp. on a tl?

roof racks are good because they can be removed easily during off-season

^^ There are tow hitches available that are barely even noticeable on our cars. I believe it's just a 1" receiver which is all you need for carrying bicycles, skiis, etc. There are a few members who have them..

I thought the same thing until I put one on my car. I don't ever notice it (and I'm always looking at my car) except while I specifically look for it. I had planned to remove it after I used it the 1 time I needed it, but it's so small, I decided to leave it.
