a1 service
Has anyone done A1 service at other local non Acura dealers? My dealer is asking for $190. I think this is too much for oil change and tire rotation.
If I have this done elsewhere does it void the warranty?
Thanks

What a ripoff. Yes, you can go anywhere you want or do it yourself and not affect the warranty. Just keep the receipts. I would buy the Acura oil filter and have it installed by the place that does the oil change, and any major brand of 5-20W oil is good, or do it yourself and save a bunch.
The procedure for resetting the MID is on page 196 of the owner's manual.

Ron, does P.196 really talk about how to reset MID? I thought the owner manual never addressed this at all.
What does it say? (... saying how to reset after the service due/now comes up...?) I assume it never says how to reset MID if the service due/now warning never pops up.
Thanks.
(Sorry, no onwer manual here...)

Is A1 service just oil/filter change and tire rotation? $190 for it is a huge ripoff then. Mine is at the dealer today for the new Bridgestones and memory seat module. I asked them to do the oil change too...$35. No tire rotation needed obviously. So $155 for rotation?! :ar15:

The procedure on page 196 of the manual is incorrect. In paragraph 3a of the manual, the requirement to hold the button for 10 seconds the second time it is pressed is omitted. If this is not done, the display will not reset.
Here’s the full procedure to reset the MID display.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON
2. Select Trip A or Trip B (You can use either one, so if you are using one to record data for something, use the other one to reset the Oil Life Indicator).
3. Press the < or > button repeatedly until the oil life is displayed.
4. Press and hold the Select/Reset button for 10 seconds. The Multi-Information Display will ask for a confirmation.
a. If you are sure you want to reset the display, press the Select/Reset button for 10 seconds again. (This is the part omitted from the manual.)
b. If you do not want to reset the display, press the < or > button to select “Cancel”

I just checked my Maintenance Journal. It looks like the A1 service is an oil change and tire rotation. The A service does not mention a filter change. The B service indicates oil and filter change.
Could this be? Do they not change the filter on the A service?
Curiously,
Don

Just curious...does the maintenance indicator depend on how the car is driven? For instance, it would come on sooner if you did a lot of stop & go driving vs highway driving. Or is it strictly on mileage?

I guess I am a lucky one to get first 2 years A1 service from my dealer every 7500 mi. Beside A1 service, my dealer checked tires pressure, top off all the fluid, and visual inspection the whole car.

KilroyR1 The manual says change oil filter every second oil change, but most all dealers change filter each time. Make sure to ask because you don't want to go that long between filter changes.
BigBluu The computer factors in your driving style-stop and go or highway, temperature conditions, and mileage to adjust the MID recommendations.

I just copied the book. I reset mine accidentally at about 900 miles because I was trying out the outside temperature adjustment thingy, but I don't remember what I did. Didn't hurt anything because it went from 90% to 0%, so I just subtract 10% from whatever reading is there.

Soon... over this weekend... while I'm in the West Coast, I guess ppl are tired of having my replies talking about East Coast, ... :goldfish:
I thought I was the first one to figure "how to reset MID" in Nov, however, I'd be the super dumb if this really has been mentioned in the owner manual.
RTFM to myself. :smackhead
