Hold 8000? That's pretty heavy. The ballast can't support the weight.

Don't do it... Let me list the reasons why:
1. 8k = less lumen, you'll basically be downgrading your projector HID system to the same or worse output than halogen output. You might as well go Flintstone style and just light two candles.
2. If you buy cheap 8k bulbs they could burn the chrome inside your projectors which will cause hotspots
3. Ugly ricer color

OP I was being sarcastic in my post. You can run 8k bulbs just fine but you will get less light on the road. I have 6k currently and they are much better than my old 8k.

Its not an upgrade from what you already have! Purely cosmetic change and a downgrade in performance.

leave it stock why waste your money for something only for looks. 6k is the highest temp I would go if your aim to getting that blueish color looking.

Go for it and yes stock ballast can handle it. Its not too much of a downgrade. I didn't notice a big diference from switching to 8k from stock.....sure lost some light but not much. I run my parking lights+hid fogs 99% of the time anyway LOL.
