hi i just got a 75000 mile service service reminder from acura dealership. what does it involve and how much does it cost? i take it to the dealership for all services based on MID. any input is greatly appreciated. thanks

As there is no factory 75k service schedule, the idea of the dealer's maintenance schedule is to bring money into the shop, so go by the MID and your pockets will remain full. In adddition to the MID, just remember brake fluid flush every 3 years.

 

Correction on the brake fluid change. Change it at 3 years and every year after that. And as mentioned above, there is NO 75K miles maintenance in the schedule. The schedule is in your owners manual as well.

Independent of the maintenance messages in the multi-information display, replace the brake fluid every 3 years.

Another one of those areas where the rumor is a brake fluid change every year, same as the ATF early and frequent changes, but they are not in accordance with the actual Acura factory scheduled changes.

 

i just had the brake fluid flushed two months ago. my tl is 06. i don't need another brake fluid flushed for another 3 years?

 

According to the FSM it's every 3 years.

Not a problem, but let me say this, it can't harm anything if you want to do it yourself every year, but it is ridiculous to pay the dealer for these so called maintenance services that aren't in accordance with the factory schedule.

On our 2008 Kia Optima (yea I know Kia, but it can't be beat, new $15230-great knock around vehicle), the dealer 30k service is $485, but in accordance with the factory 30k service, the parts were only $62 and took me all of 1/2 hr to do the install, cabin filter, air filter, oil/filter change, fuel air filter, and now it’s good to go as the car came with the 10 yr 100k warranty and don't want that to be jeopardized.
