750 ci BMW?

Drove straight through from Utah to Austin Tx. (22 hrs :banghead: ) Just into Tx. a BMW ran up my rear and then pulled ahead. So me and my new TL and newly installed Injen cai i thought i would show him what i had. Any how I saw it was a 750 ci (96ish) and that is about all I saw, that cars top end speed was amazing. I hate follow the leader

The guy in the Beemer must have upgraded his computer chip, because all US legal Beemers have a governor limit at 139mph.

porshah that's simply not true. I know several 8-series owners in the US that have tested their machines' 155mpg governors.

Also, a 750 would've been a 750i or 750il, if it was a sedan.

The 750 is no longer made. His original post referred to "96ish" 750.

I had an M3 and it'll go to 155 all day long....

There is no 750 coupe either.....850 may be...and V8 power going uphill will eat you for lunch.....

Not trying to flame any one, but the info is inaccurate to say the least.....

Oops. My bad. Didn't see the coupe part. Had to be an iL. No way could someone mix-up a 750 with an 850.

Yeah the 750 is now a 760, the 750 or 850 whichever it was would toast a TL, a 6 cyl car compared to a 12 cyl car? and uphill? no way never going to happen. and yeah if you know anything about BMW's there are no similiarities between the 7 and 8 series, which ended production in '97.

Thanks. I couldn't understand 96ish in the beginning... means 1996 production?

They don't. The 850 was the coupe version of the 7 series.

oh ok i know that car there is a 750, very limited in numbers but no ci just the iL version. its a v12 engine that produces about about 320hp. that thing can haul ass but its 4500lbs. you should be able to outrun it but removing the speed governor on those cars is a piece of cake.

Guys - The 750 IS a 12-cyl and can cruise 160 all day long. Restrictions on the BMW's are IDENTICAL to the restrictions on all other US delivered cars (It depends on the tire rating). My '97 704iL would cruise at 145 easily. I ran away from an eclipse one time on a trip down to Charleston. Doesn't surprise me that you weren't able to keep up with the 750 at all. You guys. These are NOT top-end performance cars. Once you get it over 130, just go ahead and slow back down. You've had about all the fun the TL can provide.

Next thing I expect to see is some 20ish "Kid" trying to run against a S55 or a new S600. Those are just about the biggest "Boats" you can find but they are also designed for the autoban and with nearly 500HP have the ability to "cruise" right along side (or in front of) the bib Beemers. Can you say 180MPH?

What are you talking about? The 750 only made 296hp from 1989 to 1994, when it was introduced in 1988 it made 300hp. From 1995 to 1998 it made 322hp, then from 1999 to 2001 it produced 326hp. When reintroduced in 2003 she pumps out 438hp for 2003 and 2004.
