7443 vs. 1157 turn signals

Looking to upgrade to Type-S headlights, but dunno whether to stick with my stock 7443 turn signals or convert to the bigger 1157's.

Given the same voltage (not sure about wattage), would the bigger bulb produce more light? Note that I'm only comparing non-LED, incandescent filament amber bulbs. LED's look nice but I want to retain the stock look.

Yeah, I was planning to do this or splice the stock harness to fit the 1157 socket (whichever is easier and less time consuming). So would the amber 1157 be brighter than the amber 7443? If so that would favor going the 1157 route I guess.
