73,000 Miles Maintenance question

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen. I have a quick question for you guys I'm at 73,000 miles and was wondering at this point what kind of maintenance do you guys think I should do. I have a 2008 TL been keeping up with Oil Changes and other maintenance, haven't done a tranny fluid change, or any of the work for the transmission as listed on this site but I haven't really noticed any problems with mine. So my question is what maintenance do you think I should do, stick to the oil change, tire rotation and change the air and cabin filter or go ahead and get the B1 that came up on the MID(i dont think its needed car seems solid to me) or do all the above plus the transmission fluid change and 3/4th gear pressure switches. Any input would be great and thanks again! Have an awesome day!

Your second option.

6 quarts of Redline Racing ATF + 3 quarts of Redline D4 with the 3rd/4th gear sensors.

Transmission is really our only problem with our cars when it was made (performance wise)-- replace the transmission fluid + sensors every 60k.

Good luck and have fun!

You guys that keep recommending the Racing ATF better read:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=834299&page=6

Seems as though some problems are now being recognized after using the Racing ATF.

Said it a long time ago, stick with the Acura/Honda fluid DW1.

I don't know, I think the TL's tranny is doomed no matter what you do... I did a 1x3 on mine every oil change since new (I did this on my 3G, because my 2G lost it's tranny very early on), replaced the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches... I even switched to Redline D4... That didn't stop the tranny from blowing itself apart at 106,000 miles.

That be the case then mine better blow in the next 5000 miles. I think it's hit or miss. Mine was a bit harsh when I first got the car but it is 10x better now after the last 1x3 and the switches. Every car had flaws.

Im in the same boat if mine goes I would like it to go under the 100,000 mile mark. So I think ill do the fluid change with the switches and B1. I appreciate all the input fellas thanks a lot!

Re-read what I posted. Flaring is because of to little FM. Add D4 and you have the "Optimal" amount.

That just means it was doomed to begin with. Did you buy new or used?

I'll hit 100K by the end of the year or early January. Mine is running very smooth right now. I recommend changing it if you need to. My plan is to do a 1x3 every 3-4 oil changes and the switches once a year or so. I'll also put some cash aside in case of it crapping out.

Ok I've been reading through the "interesting conversation with transmission builder thread" and I am a bit confused, do the 07 and 08 TL's need to have the switches replaced? Because my understanding so far in the thread is that these TL's actually have the RL transmission. Anyone?

From what I read, the "Optimal" amount you refer to is certainly subjective and still very questionable. It seems as though the "Optimal" amount changes as transmission problems develop after the introduction of the Racing ATF into the trans, so good luck.

Thats a good question I just read a good portion of the thread and didnt see much mention in regards to the 07-08 TL more so for the earlier models. Can anyone clarify if the 07-08 need the switches replaced?

I'm at 76k in an 08 type s and have done the trans drain and refill 3 time now, trans feels pretty descent. Been considering the pressure switches but the dealer techs talk to me like I'm out of my mind and quote me $275.

The RL trans is not the same as the '07-'08 TL. The '07-'08 share some parts with various other Acura models, but it is not the same trans. Looking as some parts, the valve body is the same as the '08-'11 RDX and the '09-'11 TL, converter '07-'08 TL only, mainshaft '07-'11 RDX, '09-'11 TL, '10-'11 TSX, etc.

I guess you could ask the question, do any of the 3G TL's need to have the pressure switched replaced?

So I got quoted $345 this includes the 3rd/4th switches, a 3x3 and the B1 service.

This is a quote with DW1. Im going to talk to the mechanic tomorrow and ask what it would be if I brought my own trans fluid. How does this sound guys, is it pretty reasonable? Dealer wanted like $200 and change just for B1.
