It could be that, being afraid of pushing it in reverse, you are pushing it little bit to the left, actually between 4th and 6th.

Agree. Just keep pushing to the right when going from 5 - 6. Doesn't have to be hard, just firm pressure to the right and down.

I got that too once in a while when I was getting the 3rd gear issue.
Replacing the fluid with the new acura stuff helped for a while, but now the 3rd gear issue is coming back.

I too observed this problem when I picked up my 2006 MT. Shifting from 5th to 6th was an issue, not very easy. Dealership could reproduce it but could not find a problem with it. I also posted here and someone suggested that instead of shifting straight down you shift more to the right. All other shifts from top to bottom are straight down except for 5th to 6th. I never worry about going into reverse. A firm outward pressure- nothing aggressive.

The MT fluid really has not been an issue for me with 5 to 6---only with 3rd.

Good Luck.

dont worry about pushing out to the right too far, you wont be able to put it in reverse while the car is in a forward motion, transmission locks it out.
oh, and i never have any problems with that.

...and the standard answer is "Search the forums on GM Synchromesh Friction Modified", and your cure is in the bottle.
