6sp shifts fine no 3rd gear problem, do I still change to gm synchromesh or honda MT

car shifts fine and I live in a warm socal (are these hard 3rd gear shifts mostly in cold weather places?)

Do I go with gm synchromesh friction modified or the new improved honda MT fluid? does the tranny take 3 quarts?

If you are not having any problems (like most I would bet), then it's pretty much a judgement call.. may wish to go with the "new improved" Honda fluid. I never had any problems either, but I have used the GMSFM fluid with both of my drain and fills.

Your manual doesn't take 3 quarts. I takes 2.3 quarts (2 quarts, 10 ounces) for a drain and fill, or 2.6 quarts for a dry fill. You would, of course be doing a draing and fill.

Lastly, those who have had the infamous 3rd gear problems have lived all over the country, so weather doesn't seem to be a real factor there.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! If it's time to change the fluid, use the OEM Honda stuff. GM fluid is VERY expensive. I wouldn't bother trying it unless your having a synchro problem...

The new Honda fluid worked fine in mine, I don't have the 3rd gear problem just a little hard to shift into when its below freezing but once its warm its good to go

Use the GM stuff it is worth the extra money. I paid $12 a quart 4 months ago. I have never had any 3rd gear problem, but car shifts perfectly.
