6mt owners - clutch adjustment

I am sure some of you might have already came across this thread in the 3G garage. Since I just found it Friday I thought I'd share.

I did the adjustment yesterday and so far I LOVE it!! My clutches engages way high and by thread the push rod in a bit I was able to set it so the engagement point to about an inch from full depression. It makes driving the 6mt easier and smoother.

I would strongly recommend NOT to have the initial engagement point set to 1" from full depression (hitting the stop pad on the firewall). I would suggest setting this to between 1.5" and 1.75" from full depression. The reason is due to the fact that many times people do not fully depress the clutch pedal during shifts (this is not abnormal). If the point of initial engagement is too low, then there is the very real possibility that when the shift is performed, a slight engagement may still exist between the pressure plate/flywheel and the clutch disk. This will cause your synchronizers to do significantly more work to match gear speeds and therefore significantly more wear to the synchro mating surfaces will occur. You will also increase the incidence of gear grinding.

Just a thought and suggestion.
