6MT Accord vs 98 SVT Cobra

So I went to DPA last night and on the highway there was an older SVT Cobra. I don't know if he was modded or not, it sounded like he had an exhaust, but who knows. I saw his car later that night but didn't get a chance to ask if he had mods.

From a high roll (80...I know..) we went. I was in 4th (could've been in 3rd) and, after I did some research, he was right in his powerband in 3rd. He got a SLIGHT jump...slight. He started pulling ever so slowly until I got up around 100 and really there was no pull on either of our ends. He was about 1.5 cars ahead of me from the initial jump/better gear for him. One of the best races I've had. Not a kill, but I think if it would've been a "honk-off," giving us the chance to start @ the same time, in the correct gear , the results would have been different. Fun night though

Oh, and an SI (stock) thought he beat me LOL. He was next to me and hit it and I honestly didn't even realize he was going because it didn't look like he was moving too fast, he had 2 people in the car. After he was literally 6-7 lengths in front and increasing speed, I hit it. Obviously I wasn't catching up. So we got off the highway and he's like is that a 4 or a 6? I'm like 6...but you started WAY ahead of me, and he had a smirk like "Yea, I'm sure." Haha

Good run! I know SVTs respond very well to mods .. even as little as exhaust modifications.

I wonder how you'd do from a dig / slower roll?

Those kids driving Si's are funny. Not saying everyone who drives an Si is like that, but a lot of them need to learn a lot more about cars before they run their mouth.

Haha I know! Well, it wasn't the SC ones from 99 up. It was the NA 305hp Cobras, but they still make a lot of power. I think he had an exhaust, it was sort of loud but I want to ask him. Hopefully he will be back @ "The Ave" so I can ask him and maybe even run him again in my powerband....

IMO, best roll races are 2nd gear 35-40 MPH for N/A TL's-Accord's 6MT...

Good race!

Good race!
45-50 mph in second is much better; you're right in the powerband there.

I think it would've been dead even had you been in third. The '98 Cobra was a 13.90-14.00 @ 100-101 mph car; fast enough for a sports car 11 years ago, but not as fast as the F bodies.

That's what I was thinking too. Plus he had the slightest jump..oh well, it was a really good run and I'm sure he was a little shocked, as most people are with the Accord/TL 6MTs.

It's buggin me that I didn't know what mods he had or if he had any

good run sonnick. You guys would be a great drivers race from a dig or a even roll. Just like anx3000 said those cobras run 13.9-14.1 @ 99-101MPH. Right in the same ball park as you. Imagine if you said 10 years ago that a accord would hang with a cobra nearly stock! who wouldve known!
