55,000 mile maintenance

I have a question, I just got a notice from my dealer that my Manufacturer recommended 55,000 mile maintenance is due. First off is this bs, are they just trying to get me in the door? Is there anywhere to check in my manuals to see what maintenance is recommended at 55,000 miles? Thanks

yup its BS they are just trying to get your business and will do nothing to the car that you cant do. Oil change, filter changes etc etc. Im not sure exactly what they claim to be required at 55K but its all in the manual go check it out.

I looked in the owner manual and I saw nothing about a 55,000 mile maintenance. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I will look again in my manual.

It's amazing that dealers come up with maintenance intervals that the factory doesn't considered scheduled maintenance. Even when the dealers are correct with the interval, they will add parts and services that aren't needed just to enhance their bottom line and empty your pockets.
Just check the manual and go by the MID.

Yea I checked the owners manual again, and I only saw a brief section saying what maintenance that was required. It wasn't very much stuff at all, also this may be a dumb question but what is the MID?

No there was no code or any numbers. Oh i know what you mean, the MID is the computer screen showing the oil life and all that. That is usually what i go by, thanks.

Remember, dealers make a substantial percentage of their profits from the service department.
So anything they can do to sucker you in and give you a .........................

I had the MID go off 'round 50K...think it was for B1, which was just like an oil change and tire rotation or something

if you havent yet, i would do a 3+3 trans fluid change. had mine done at 60k and the fluid was not so good. my dealerships recommends a 1 time change every 15k...which i learned about after the fact, but i would highly recommend it. but agreed, there is no such thing as a 55k service.

Yea I have the Acura care service so I get free oil changes and tire rotation. I guess the dealership just figured they haven't seen me in a while and wanted some of my money, lol thanks guys.

I wish mine included the tire rotation. Oh well $55 for rotation and balance while driving one of their loaner cars isn't too bad.

Jay Wolfe in KC gives lifetime oil changes to any car they sell.
