5 days - 1000 miles
5 days - 1000 miles
New TL, ABP/Camel AT - just purchased last Saturday. We drove from Albuquerque, NM to Central Colorado to go skiing at Breckenridge. Drove home through the Colorado mountains over 300 miles of snow packed and icy roads. Car performed flawlessly - great ride. Over the last 360 miles of the return home the car averaged 30.23 mpg. I note that all of this driving was at high altitude (5000 to 11,000 ft). Speeds 50 - 65 on the snow pack and ice and 85 on the final Interstate portion. Wife complained that she cannot see the outside temp (-10 degrees when we started our return home). My nit is that the dash is not very legible in bright daylight - fixed by setting illumination to MAX, but, then much too bright at night. I've never owned a car that I had to continually adjust the dash illumination.
One additional note on break-in. I felt better driving in 4th than fifth for a lot of the break-in on the highway. Seemed to allow the engine to work in a more leisurely fashion.
All in all we are very happy.

Sounds great, you seem pretty satisfied with your 04TL and TIRES. That's the good sign for new car.
And, yes, IMO, I also strongly believe the break-in requires to rev the engine differently and distinctly, not just try to stick with 65 MPH at 5th gear by 1900 RPM. But, 85 is not the speed I'd try in my break-in period.
Actually, I ever drove my 04TL over 1500 miles in five days... that's the pleased joy-ride.
