4G Vs ???
4G Vs ???
Okay, let's be honest, we've all (probably) challenged someone to an impromptu "race" while out and about. My question is, how is the 4G fairing aganst other cars in real world circumstances? Any good (or bad) stories? I know I've shut down a few ricey (loud exhaust) civics lol.
Taken down my friend's GTI a couple of times but than again so did my TC so i can't really say.
Funniest story was that i was racing a BMW 3 series one night and while it was a pretty close race. We both stopped at a red light and when he told me to lower my window, He had asked me if my TL was turbocharged since all he heard was the intake every time i shifted. I thought that was pretty funny.

had a little friendly show-off race this morning on the highway with a 07/8 TL type s. it wasnt a real race, he pulled up along side of me and we just took turns passing eachother in the fast lane for a few miles. both exchanged a nod of approval and went on with our day. gotta say tho that thing was pretty quick, i still think i would have taken him if we went head to head tho. id be interested in seeing that race actually. besides that the only time i "raced" was the first night i had my new tl. went driving all night and a new M5 pulled up next to me and we both slowed down to about 50 on the empty highway, needless to say, i lost sight of him a few short seconds later, now thats a machine!
I raced a V8 Explorer a week after I bought mine (don't worry, I already had over 1,000 on the odometer). It was around midnight and we were driving on a backroad up to a red light. We were both turning left, but I could tell he was driving like a bat out of hell from the moments I was following behind him.
When the light turned green, he gunned it and I laughed as his SUV "wallowed" through the corner, half spinning its tires. I quickly found the rev limiter (glad I have it) and turned a tighter corner so we were both side by side, but after a shift into 2nd I was obviously way ahead, by time 3rd came and went, we were definitely going to jail if we got caught at those speeds, haha. He never gave up, but I was already way past him. Felt awesome!

I can back up NJ SHAWD's Bimmer 535--had a dude driving like a real a-hole on i95 in one. Road opened up a bit, to the point where I was OK with punching it without messing with other drivers, and I ended up smoking that thing. Can also add a G35x sedan to the list--although my car had the intake, TBS, IMG, and pulley done at the time. Wasn't stock.

To quote Edmunds insideline:
"The 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T with its 375-hp 5.7-liter V8 and six-speed manual transmission accelerated to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds (5.5 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip), then reached the quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds at 100.8 mph."
The 2010 TL 6MT 0-60 has been publicized anywhere from 5.2-5.6 seconds. Don't underestimate a slick Acura transmission

Then again, I only stopped accelerating at 55mph or I would have surely caught a cop's attention (in a 35mph zone)
It's never power alone. After comes weight and in many cases gearing. It's very heavy and I suspect that the Challenger Hemi is geared a little to tall overall, for the sake of gas mileage and probably stability under rapid start ups.
