4G TL steering wheel fit 3G TL-S?

The size and shape of the airbag look identical. The 3G steering wheel is too skinny and the 4G is fatter by looking at the pictures. Anyone looked into it?

the problem would be the electrical/component connections, but it would be interesting to find out.

I also thought my 3g Tl-S steering wheel is too skinny for my tastes.

A cheap and simple solution is to simply buy a 20 dollar black faux leather steering wheel cover/grip to make the steering wheel thicker.

You lose the thumbgrips though, that's the primary con but otherwise I feel much more comfortable with the steering wheel cover as it makes the wheel 2 times thicker and I can grip it much more comfortably. It helps protect your wheel from gouges and scratches as well which is an added bonus.

any progress on this in the last 3 years? I'd love to swap out for a thicker OEM steering wheel

I wonder if the airbag is compatible. As in, put the 3G TL-S airbag in the 4G wheel. I would think the airbag connection would be the biggest concern over radio and other function.

You'd have to have someone willing to pull their 4G wheel and take pics of the connectors first, then look at the wiring schematic for the other functions.
