Depends on your perspective. Many of the drivers are "slow". Depending on your crowd, an 11 second Lambo could be considered slow. My car at 10.60 wasn't quick enough for my crowd so it's making another 140hp and 300lbs lighter than it did when it ran those time. 9 second street car FTW.
And just to be clear, I still consider the Gallardo & the others fast in their own rights. Shit, I've been in one on the track at MSR & it's a completely different experience than my friend's Cobra on the highway b/c that car just spews all sorts of force on the body when you experience just how fast it stops & goes around corners.
In straight line speed though, it's still fast, but I've seen what a TT 1,400 Viper can do in a straight line & it's just fucking nuts. I still give major props to the supercars because they come that way from the factory just like the Viper & M3 came a lot slower from theirs, along with the supercars having just as much aftermarket availability.
But, in just overall terms "quick" & "fast", I have never seen such a collection of cars in just 1 location compared to the numerous modified supercars out there who seem to be spread out in the US.
I'm pretty confident in saying that there are 2-4 cars in Dallas alone that could run a Veyron & be within 2 car lengths of it before 160Mph.

I was at the strip back in the '90s my car was somewhere in the high 12s. They were running some diesels, most were in the 13s-14s but a couple were running as quick or quicker than me. I always thought that would be very scary on the street not being able to outrun one.

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy a fast car as much as the next guy. Ive even been in my share of street races when i was younger. I lost a friend to a street racing accident and since then it put a whole new perspective on street racing.
Of course racing on unpopulated highways are going to be much safer than racing in traffic, but you cant tell me that the guys in Texas havent been stupid enough to race in traffic.
If someone urges you to race, by either revving their engine or doing ricer flybys is going to grab your attention and make you want to show what you have. Ive been there, Ive done that.
I appreciate the guys that race on desolate roads and are concerned with the safety of others on the roads. Perhaps, my previous history with street racing and losing a friend to street racing got me a bit distracted in the thread.

And I agree...I'm all for open road racing, only the driver runs the risk of death and a ticket.
The weaving in and out etc is what pisses me off. Seriously, when I see it I can't help but feel like it's a huge EFF EW...I don't care about your life or all the other families on the street.
In my youth, I would chase the person down to "teach them a lesson" etc...now, I just back off and let them do their thing hoping they won't hurt anyone. I now know that if I go after/instigate and cause the accident I would feel just as guilty if they killed someone as if I had done it myself.
Cheers to maturity.
...and PS...yes, if I THINK I can win and it's open highway or a light with no other cars ahead...sure I'll punch it.

I got my car from the dealership.. I just don't know if my car was able to hang with the lighter evenly powered teg(if he's 400bhp) due to secret mods, driver mod, or if I just happen to have a freak of a car.. almost about a year ago I raced a buddys C5 Z06 and he only put about 1 car on me by top of 3rd (97mph+) from a 40 roll

He didnt know how to launch and he was using his heads up display for his shifting not realizing that the HUD was off by 500 rpm.

Good fun.
. . . and there must be more than one white Integra with a turbo. I ran in to one the other day and had a couple of quick punches and pulled him both times so it couldn't be the same one as you'd kill me. We need to meet up some time seeing how close we live and have a go at it and see how close/far I can hang with you.

great run OP...as fas as street racing and being 31... thats just dumb because there is no age limit on it....And to be honest I do my fair share of street racing from time to time on highways and been doing it since 16, I'm now 28 and more mature and still no accidents (knock on wood)...But yeah Im more afraid of Soccer MOMS with their big SUV's trying to keep her kids quiet in the back and talking on the phone and not paying attention then seeing 2 guys roll up on highway on have a run.. At least I know they are focused and paying attention unlike Soccer MOMs and many others who don't street race and cuz worse accidents.........oh BTW dallas reppin some nice sweet ridesss

None around here. Turbo kits are still WIP right now, though 1 owner just ran '11 M3 Comp. Package and only lost by 1.5 car lengths, this also with him lifting off the gas between shifts in an AT. Turbo in these cars has a lot of potential on roll runs.

Ya I think the 3g TL has gone a long way since I was shopping for one back in 2006. I believe all they had was a supercharger that added only about 60whp at 4 or 5psi and that everyone said the bottom end was so weak that 6psi would have been pushing it! I'm glad to see that the car is finally some love from the FI world... lol
