4 dealers in Philly, None is willing to fix the vibration for me
My 05 TL bought in March has the infamous 1500 rpm drone/vibs, took it to several dealers ( with the service bullitin prinatout in hand ), none wants to fix the problem or install the damper kit for me.
They all say the TSB is issued for 04, but my car is 05, so there is nothing they can do. Here is my experience:
Metro Acura---multiple times let me leave the car with them ( no loaner), and later tells me couldn't duplicate the vibs and other rattles that I want fixed.
Montgomery Acura---So far the best, nice service advisor gave me a loaner, fixed rattles, but saying the drone/vib is a normal characteristics.
Jekintow Acura---Service manager was nice. The tech was nice also at beginning, test drove car with me and acknoledge there is vibration. But he turned around and told service manager that he didn't hear anything!!!
Ardmore Acura---Rude service manager, won't let you say anything.
What do you guys suggest? Is there a TSB for 05 TL? Another issue is the vibration is very pronounced when cold, but not as much when the car has been driven for a while, so should I let it sit befor going to dealers?

I would suspect the vibration when cold could be flat-spotting of the tires...do a search you will find some threads.
Even I wasnt able to convince 3 dealers that there is a vibration on my 04 TL...they would give their framed anwser of "vehicle characteristic" and when the TSB came in they applied it and gotta say I think my vibrations were gone...mybe other 05 TLers can help you out but I was lucked out since mine was an 04 and the TSB could be applied...I thought that issue was solved for the 05 though...

They give you a toll free number for the Acura Service Reps for a reason. This sounds like a good one.
I agree tires can play a part of this and a excellent balance job may help. Acura will balance and align tires for a limited time (specified in the warranty).

Well the 2005 should be included in the TSB
The 50 mph / 1500 RPM vibration is probably the most reliable expectation I have in my 2005 TL.
Feeling, watching, seeing this occur every day on my commute is more predictable than my morning alarm clock.
Too bad the 'expense accountants' at Honda/Acura did not do the right thing and extend it to us 2005 owners.
I love my car, I want to love Honda, I still have 5 more years before it will be paid off, but I see now why Toyota/Lexas monthly volumes is leaving us in the dust.
:-(
C'mon Honda/Acura...Get Going!!!!

One other little trick in the hat is to call acura client services, get a case # and then if nothing comes out of it then go to the better business bureau website and filling out an auto lemon complaint (it wont take you more then 10 mins) and reference that case # with acura. Trust me you will be recieving a call from Acura in 3 business days. It worked for me when I was trying to get my tires replaced...

You do not get a toll free number to the "service reps". What you get is a toll free number to a middle man that is contracted to handle/weed out complaints for Acura.
In the far past you could actually speak to district reps etc... Not anymore

an Acura has-been
I wish you all much luck, I started with Acura on this very problem in December of 2003 on the 3rd gen TL.
All I can say is that the bean counters do not think that the vast majority people notice these little things, and those who do are expendable.

gainful, have you tried Acura of West Chester? They're very good with their service department. They just applied a TSB to my car for rattles that I didn't even complain about, although I've complained about speakers previously. I haven't complained about the 5th gear vibrations yet, and I know they don't have the parts on hand to do it.
ask to have a mechanic take a test drive with you when you drop off your car so that they can "reproduce" the effect.

I've had the vibration since July 04..I've been shut out also and now I've got used to it. What TSB are you all talking about on the 04? How can I check if my car is included? Thanks for the help.

I've had a vibration in my '05 between 50-60 MPH. It's not necessarily at 1500 RPM, it pretty much does it at any RPM and it goes away after 3 miles or so of driving. I have chalked it up to the tires and will deal with it until the tires wear out and I can get something better on there.

I have the problem with my 05 TL on both the stock wheels and tires as well as a set of aftermarket 19's that have been roadforce balanced. The roadforce balance cured a vibration problem I was having over 60 that ended up being a bad tire.
Regardless of what the dealer says, the problem is not tires. I've ruled that one out...

I just called a local dealer that services my car. He was useless. He said he heard nothing about a TSB for 04's. Is there a web site or number to call to check individual VIN numbers?? He wouldn't even check my VIN. He said as long as you don't get anything in the mail, I should be fine. Your thoughts....
