3rd Time being repaired!!!

I am dropping off my white 04 TL for the third time today to have the front bumper repainted. The paint is pealing yet again and is scheduled for repainting. The paint is pealing on the drivers side below the turn signal. This is the 3rd time it's being painted and I've had the car 8 months.

They are also scheduled to fix the rattling noise from the rear deck lid for the 2nd time.

They are also scheduled to fix the headliner for the styrafoam squeaking noise for the 3rd time.

I have contacted Acura and filed a complaint about my paint situation and their reply was... Well, it's under warrantee. Am I supposed to bring my car in every 3 months for the next 3 years to have my bumper painted? FIX IT ALREADY!!!

I have also contact a lemon law lawyer and if I have to bring back my car again to be repainted then I have a slam dunk case and Acura will have to replace my car or give me back my money.

I've looked out there for another car I would buy but really don't see anything out there I would want over the TL. I like the car...what can I say. I just have a bad one. I heard the new G35 has 298hp and the new Lexus IS is coming out so maybe I'll switch after all.

It almost sounds like there's silicone on the bumper - like from a spray lube or something.

Good luck!

Just so you know, you qualify for the Lemon Law.

I don't know what the law is in California, but in Florida, you probably wouldn't qualify under the lemon. In Florida, whatever is wrong needs to limit the full use of your vehicle. Obviously it is a hassle to keep having the car painted and issue needs to be addressed, but it probably won't meet the lemon law test in Florida.

Just because you don't meet the lemon law test doesn't mean you are out of options, you may still have a claim under the Uniform Commercial Code.

Why don't you make a deal with Acura to have the car painted at a decent shop? - I agree that this is an issue of shoddy workmanship, likely the result of not removing silicone. Jeez, I painted the bumper of my wife's Outback myself, and it never peeled, for cryin out loud.

If Acura balks, have an attorney send them a "demand" letter - I am sure they will let you take it to the shop of your choice rather than litigate and face a buy-back. If they play hardball, sue the bastards - I did on another vehicle, and won in Virginia.

Why keep painting the bumper? Get a new one. It is a color coded part, comes painted from Acura (so I have been told).
