3rd Gen Type-S Comptech Aftermarket Thread

I figure we should go ahead and open a thread so we can share news about any rumors of comptech parts for the new type-s (exhaust, headers, supercharger), etc. Really, i'm doing this because i'm considering moving to the RL and they share the same engine so now comptech has motivation to give the RL folks some mods. So, has anyone heard any word on when we'll start seeing parts for the new Type-S?!

Basically most if not all of the aftermarket things would work on the TypeS. The comptech exhaust would work, aftermarket suspension will all work since it's using the same suspension. All the cold air intake would work as well.

Even though the TypeS have a 3.5L engine, most of the changes are only internal. It's using the same block and same head (different valves, springs, and camshaft inside). The exhaust manifold is the same so the Pro Cats would bolt right up. The crank pulley is the same so the UR crank pulley will fit.

The RL motor is using the same block as the 07TL TypeS, J35A5. The only difference between the J32A5 block and the J32A5 block (04-07 TL non TypeS) are the internals (crankshaft, rods, piston).

So for all the bolts on that bolts up to the outside of the engine, they will all bolt up just fine.

Seriously? Hmm... I would have to wait for someone else to get the stuff and verify it fits before I ordered. But they are coming out with stuff for the type S anyways. I spoke with injen, AEM, and comptech and they all told me they have stuff in the works, it would just be around the first of the year till they get anything out.....

I am swapping the TypeS motor in my 06. So after I am done, I will be 100% sure which parts would work.

I am pretty sure everything would work tho. Hopfully my swap will go smoothly.

May I ask why you are going to do that to such a new car? Just swapping or adding anything like supercharger or turbo??

I already have the supercharger and decided I want more power. Then the TypeS came out and found out it would be a simple swap. I am also putting in the CL-S piston which has a slightly lower compression ratio which allows for higher boost. After the engine swap is done, I will be tuning with the high boost pulley for the supercharger.

I know my 06 is new, my engine only has 8000km on it, but modding is my hobbie and I just coudln't stop. I took apart my whole car within the first week i got it and started to mod it. Ever since I put the supercharger in, my warenty is pretty much gone. So if my engine gets into any trouble, it would not be covered anyways. Also I have a good tuner shop to back me up and help me out if I ever get into any trouble. My car is also the shop's project car.

The good part is, if i ever blow the TypeS engine, I can always swap the orignal engine back in!
