3rd GEN TL ON DRAG STRIP w/ AEM CAI

OK guys. i just got bak from the track - Sacramento Raceway...
My Dial-in was 14.90 . . .

Fastest I ran was a 15.060@ 95.365...

Reaction: .430
Temp: 90 Deg.

Once Again, This is with Stock Tires, removed spare tire, and AEM CAI...

O yea, btw, Saw a 2.5RL and a 2.2//3.0 CL... Anybody from acurazine???

Here's the time slip.

here are my times, tell me what you guys think.. has anybody done faster in a AUTO TL??? please let me know.. it was HOT.. I'm sure with better tires and better weather, i can hit that 14.9 i was dialed in for.

Great help!

If you could get that 60 ft down to the 2.1 range, which is reasonable for a FWD car, you'd be in the 14.4-14.6 range, which is very respectable for an auto.

Work on the launch and get back to us!

there is no way i can get down to that 14.4-14.6 range with stock tires and that weather.. Track was also poorly prepped. maybe on slicks i can do somwhere like 14.8? Witht he stockies, no way..

01clsstock - you find someone with a stock auto time way better than my 'crappy' time and then talk.

friskoplayer - when u planning on going?

2.4...that's really really bad.....get the launched done right and like others have said, should get you into 14.8 at least.

My best 60' was 2.398... I don't understand how i can do better man.. Can anyone show that their 04-06 A/T TL can get a lower 60'?? I would love to see that...

ALSO, from 1st to 2nd gear, the TL shifts by itself, like 300-400 before redline//rev limiter...

hmmm.....did you remove some or floor mats in your car? I find that you cannot floor it 100% if you have floor mats since they are pretty thick and they will prevent you from flooring 100%. Also, may be it's a good idea to gate shift for 1st to 2nd gear. With enough practice the car would shift right at around 6900-7000rpm. If the car short shifted, you would lose a couple of tenths second; you won't use all the power from 1st gear, and you won't have as much torque as 2nd gear engages due to lower rpm from short shifting.

From my understanding, the best way to launch is to use the brake torquing technique. Rev up to around 2000rpm while in gear, holding the car still, quickly release the brake pedal and apply more throttle (around 3/4 of the way) for a split sec, then floor it. If you do this correctly, you will launch a lot faster and get a good 60ft time.

Launch in "L", it holds 1st and 2nd to redline, then shift to SS mode after 2nd gear is done

It is exactly what I did, but it still didn't hit redline. Close, but not all the way.

hmm..that's interesting, try putting it in 1st gear (as in slide your gear shifter all the way to "1"), apply enough throttle so that it will rev to 7000rpm, you should travelling at around 70km/h (44mph?), see if it will upshift automatically even though you have your gear shifter in "1." From my experience, the car should just be bouncing at the rev limit (~7200rpm) instead of upshifting automatically.

I have a 3rd gen TL. it only has a "L", no 1 like the 2nd Gen TL's do..

lol i never knew about that...but seriously if your car is shift that early, it would just be as fast as a TL-p....(or slightly faster)...

lol well..i was a bit exaggerating, but 300-400rpm short from the redline, especially with a honda, is a big difference.
