3rd Gen TL

What up everybody,

This is my first build. Suggestions? I was thinking wheels first, then suspension, brakes, exhaust, and finally a custom built motor. The latter is my real question. With the factory motor (k20?)...is it worth just mod-ing the stock motor or should I eventually look into a custom built? I have read about motors that are part LS and Part V-tec...thoughts?

thanks

the 3rd gen TL has a J32
which is a V6 engine.

maybe you should spend some time getting to know the car, first.
check out the TL wiki page.

Firstly, welcome to the forums
1st big question is: what is your budget?

Here is a sticky that contains a list of performance mods available to the TL owner. Read it. If you are looking to mod your car, do it in the order that YOU want to do it.

as others have said, do some research. You have a lot of misinformation in your first post here.

If you want a custom built motor, it's gonna be very costly - a good performance shop doing the work (I assume you won't be boring and honing for custom pistons and that a shop will do it for you), plus parts, will easily run you over 10k.

I'm building just the top of the motor - decked/ported heads, valve job, cams, the R&D to flow everything, etc. and it's gonna cost me about 8-9k. That's a lot of money to be sinking into a FWD car for 350 whp - I want to be somewhat unique, but unique costs money in the car modding world. You need to decide if your goal is to have a no-limit fast car (not the TL), or something unique and cool (TL with engine work).

You need deep pockets if you want to do a custom built motor on this car.

Tint, then suspension, then lip kit, then wheels, then modded headlights.

Or you could just do whatever you want. Like justnspace has said many times before to many new members is figure out your goals and go from there
