3rd brake light shining back seats...

I had my 3rd brake light fixed a while back so that it wouldn't shine into the back seats... the dealer fixed that. I went and had my windows tinted today and it appears the tint installer moved it forward again and didn't move it back. so now when I brake, my back seat and the back dash are all nice and glowing red... i took a quick look at it and tried to slide it back forward, but nothing was giving...

how can i slide the 3rd brake light back forward to prevent light leakage?

thanks

There is a rubber seal around the glass. If you take some felt you can stick it underneath the rubber seal to make it "fatter" and to cover the gap between the glass and the cover.

Otherwise just take it back to the dealer and have them fix it for you.

Thanks for the tip, Lore... if all else fails, I'll give it a try

Here's a scan from the service manual which may help. There are also some metal clips, which for some reason are not shown in the service manual. Pople have reported that if you adjust the clips it helps hold the cover in the right position.

Thanks, Ron....

...and, BTW, it doesn't slide forward and backward. It is fixed on the pins.

What happens is that the metal clips gouge the plastic pegs and it doesn't pull up tight to the roof. If you can't seat it better by just pushing up ^ firmly in the middle and towards the front, then the dealer may need to replace it.

They normally will do that without a fight. It's not expensive and they're familiar with the problem.

Excellent scan!! I'm going to have to try this on my lunch break today so I know whether or not to contact the dealer for an appointment.

This is awesome... thanks!
