3M Acoustic Thinsulate Sound Insulation (ebay)
Those of you who aren't familiar with Acoustic Thinsulate this is one of the best & lightest sound absorbing materials available but hard to get on the consumer market.
I'm sure many of you might recognize now that this is the same stuff Acura used in our TL's from the factory! Although sadly I see many people unknowing rip it out and replace with some inferior closed cell foam which has almost no sound "absorbing" ability.
The truth is Acura did chose a very good sound absorbing material, however they did go with the thinnest version. The version on ebay right now is the thickest 2" version!!
Anyways this stuff is usually very expensive and only sold in full roll quantities (around $1700/roll) and never directly to consumers. I recently found a company selling off some surplus on ebay and purchased 125 sq ft for myself. Great deal and I just wanted to give you guys a heads up they still have a few lots of 125sq ft left.
P.S. I offered 120.00 and it was accepted right away so you might be able to get a better deal then I did.
This is mine after delivery!

I'm working on replacing all the original with the thicker stuff, or in some cases adding depending on how much space there is.
It might also make its way into a few house projects or power tools. I read a study where they were able to reduce the sound of a router by 8 decibels just by lining the case with this material. Definitely going to try this on my leaf blower too.
I'm a bit obsessed with eliminating squeaks/ Rattles and road noise. I have many rolls of different foams , felts and other such material for eliminating any possible interior noise.
Also for the places you cannot put adhesive backed foam/felts I do highly recommend this anti friction coating product called "Peox DF" which has been working very well for me.
I choose this one over the others because it sticks well to PP plastic which makes up a majority of our interior panels. Also works very well in eliminating the crunch or "stick-slip" sound you hear when the seat belt buckle rubs against the side of the front seats , or the headrest rubbing where it touches the seat.
read up on it here http://squeaksandrattles.info.
