All I can say after my experience Tuesday night is that anybody who thinks a TL doesn't protect the passengers is a dumbass.

Wow. I just read your other thread about that. Sorry to hear, man.

But if I understand correctly, you can corroborate that the TL's sheet metal is very fragile, right? It did get bent in the accident, yes?

Well, there's another data point folks! Weak metal.

Damnit was just gonna say this...

The OP isn't talking about safety of passengers, that's second fiddle to the more pressing matter of the sheet metal!!! WONT SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN SHEET METAL!

Well, it's kind of funny... we car enthusiasts... we LOVE our sheet metal. Especially when the paint over top of it is in immaculate condition, swirl free, shining bright like a diamond. We love it. All of it.

But then a wreck happens and it's "f*** that $hit. Throw it in the gutter and get me another. I'm alive!"

Priorities!

I don't think the sheet metal on a TL is thinner than any other similar car. As has been pointed out early in this silly thread, the sheet metal is not structural to the vehicle. It's like your skin on your body, not your skeleton.
I can't fault mine for anything.

You can if you try hard enough. You're probably just still in shock and don't fully understand the situation. The TL metal is weak. It's basically the Creed of metal.

How is the thread silly? I just pointing out something that atleast seems to be true, hey I could be wrong but for the longest time it seemed to me that the TL metal was very flimsy.

It's no different than the sheet metal on any other car.

you might be too young, butt I remember when Saturn ADVERTISED their aluminium doors.

"Look ma, no dents!" as an elementary aged kid throws a baseball past dad and hits the family Saturn

We called them "Scaturns" for a reason. But again....the outer panels are rarely structural.

We had a saturn L300 for about six years. I hated that car. It had so many problems. When we first got it it was pretty new and cool, with the 300 series you got leather heated seats and a v6. The oild filter was stupidly behind this pathetic case made of thin metal that was prone to breaking if you used the 3/8" drive hole in it instead of the correct oversided wrench I didnt have. Learned that one the hard way.

Let me tell you about the amazingly slow and incredibly harsh 4 speed trans that also was super long in the gears. I swear you could hit 200mph theoretically of course, in fourth. THEN the torque converter started going.
