3G TL w/ RonJon Wheels Spotted in Chinatown!

Hey Guys... I spotted this TL down in Chinatown, Boston the other day.. just wondering if it was any of you guys.. the guy had tints, RonJon wheels, smoked out tail lights, an A-spec kit (fromt what it seems), and the rest I couldn't determine...

... anyone?

Hey Joe,

That was me. I was up there with my family having dinner. I just have the aspec body kit - no suspension...yet. I'm looking to lower the car slightly and I've heard it handles much better. My only concern is that it may be too rough with the wife and kids, especially with the 19" RJs.

I see you're from Warwick. I'm living in West Warwick right now...soon moving to Cranston.

Hey APnorm, try getting the Comptech rear sway bar first. it'll give you better turning and less roll.

I have the comptech springs on the oem shocks on my 17"s. I like them but I'm not sure about your 19"s. very low profile, I'm sure you can tell every crack in the road.

I had to change my driving habits a lot when I got mine lowered. I'm on 19's w/ the Tein S-Tech drop and KYB shocks. I love the look but I've definately sacrificed ride quality. Handling the corners has been improved dramatically but everyday driving did get affected. I now have to slow down to almost a stop when going over speed bumps, driveways, railroad tracks, potholes and any other ground level inconsistantcy. If you want to lower it and keep the mostly stock feel I would recommend the Aspec drop. It's not dramatic but makes a difference and shouldn't affect your drive so much.

Anyways, just my

Oh really? Nice to see that you're up in West Warwick at the moment, you're pretty close by to me and a few other acurazine members.. by any chance, are you going to the meet on the 17th? A whole bunch of us from RI are going up there together. It'd be cool if you came along

As for the suspension, the Aspec drop would do you much better as well as not much of a noticable difference. I'm surprised you'd drive around in W. Warwick with 19's on with all of the construction and potholes that are in the area... you're crazy. Ever tried going down a rim size to see if ride quality would get better? That'd probably help a bit I hope, if not, then it's okay, no worries.

Thorin - that was my first mod on the car and I love it. The 19's aren't as bad as I thought...still a nice ride.

Thanks for the advice...I was thinking of going with the Tein Basic but figured the Aspec would be my safest best since I sometimes have to transport the wife and 2 kids (2 year old and 1 month). It's fine with just the 19's but I'm even worried with the Aspec suspension. I still haven't decided whether I'm going to pull the trigger on this!

Joe - I won't be able to go to the meet. Work and family are keeping me very busy these days. I'd like to eventually hook up with some of the other members around here though.

It's funny you mention 18's because that's what I originally ordered because I was worried about the rough ride but they were out of stock and I wanted them asap so I went with the 19's. I guess everything does happen for a reason because I'm so glad I got the 19's.

I'm right on the edge of Warwick and West Warwick (up the hill from Providence St.) so I don't see all those potholes.

Tint is 35%...I figure if it's not too dark, they'll leave me alone. So far so good.

Hey, some more RI members!!!!
I just got mine a month ago WDP/ebony 5AT Navi. I have and A-Spec Body Kit, OEM Decklid, A-Spec Chrome 18's, 35% tint (sunset tint) and debadged.
I am from Scituate, on the Johnston line.
I had 19's on my old CL and cracked them when 295 and 6 were under construction, due to unfinished pavement. I will never go that low pro again
When and where is the next meet, i'm down! My first 3G TL meet!
Also, who are the other local members?

Dude! There's a whole bunch of us locals that are driving up to the meet at Fuddruckers up in Mass on the 17th. We're all meeting up at the Burger King on RT24. Go to the thread for the june 17th meet, you'll see what I mean.

What exactly are you looking to do with your TL that you need a shop for?

By the way, where in RI are you located? We have to meet sometime

Is it okay If I could see your windows in person sometime? I was thinking of tinting my windows, but I'm not sure how dark 35%. If not, it's understandable

When it's cloudy out, the tint looks darker. On bright sunny days, it's a little lighter but still looks nice...just enough to look good but not dark enough to attract unwanted attention.

I sent you a PM.

don't get me wrong apnorm... the car rides great w/ the stech springs and my kyb shocks. i was actually really pleasantly surprised w/ the improvment in sway and body roll w/ the lower center of gravity. corners are a lot more fun!! just big dips are now more of problem than before. where I used to not even think about going over dips/bumps/rr tracks. but I'm lowered like 1.5". Aspec is only like .5" drop. You should be ok w/ the aspec. And I've had 3 good sized people back there w/ the drop on 19's (+40 offset) and have had no rubbing issues! So don't worry about that.

Thanks for the input. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the Aspec suspension later on down the road. We're moving into a new house in a couple of weeks so I'm trying to save up for some much needed things. There's just soooo many things I want for the TL. If I could just win a lottery or something!
