I'm kind of nervous what you'll end up doing with it.

Sell it on the black market

I want to rebuild my TL... seems so stupid. Maybe I should just buy a Type S... but then I'm buying someone else's problem, unless I'm paying huge cash for a mint one.. and even then, who knows how long before issues start creeping up.
Team Owner
One thing is for certain, they don't build cars like they used to. I drove my friend's 4G TL SH-AWD 6MT and at first I was like "man, this thing is so ugly on the outside, but the inside is nice and the shifter is gold"... and then I started driving it... the car feels numb and heavy compared to my 3G. It was cool at first, but I really started to miss my TL in no time. Acura tried going after the Germans with that plush suspension, but it does nothing for me.

I've got a coupon code that I'll stack with my ebates account to make this deal even slicker
Are you going to Cheesecake Factory first or nah? Do they have those in Canada?

Just like Lexus, i hate the plush suspension

Nothing happened to it. I was talking about this yesterday- not sure what to do going forwards. The smart thing would be to just keep driving the TL as is. But I'm having a hard time doing that. The suspension sucks. It needs updating... Thinking of getting a set of Tein Flex Z coils... mechanically, the car is in really good shape, save for my Clutch Master Cylinder... the new OEM one I put in has occasional problems, but, the part is under warranty until year end, so I'll take care of it by then.
Other major issues include fixing the navi- it's like an $85 part I have to buy and it will work again... The biggest issue is my rear driver's side window that Maj was helping me with before... I got tired of multimetering and gave up on it. At this point, I'm thinking it's the multiplex, as everything else has been checked/tested/replaced for the window, except for the electrical harnesses. That part is also fairly cheap- I can find a used one for under $100, if I'm not mistaken. That would take care of all mechanical and electrical issues.
The final problem- the body. It needs love. Big time. The lack of a reverse camera and poor visibility out the back, I seem to always mess up the back There are scratches and scuffs and scrapes... I want new (or gently used) headlights, fix the rusting front quarter panel, etc. I'm thinking to get the body done right will cost me $7000-8000. And then I want to supercharge it (to make it the perfect daily.. not too much power, but enough to have fun with)... I'd source a used kit for ~3000, plus maybe another ~1500 for miscellaneous stuff.
Does it make sense? Well, it ends up being waaaaaaaaaay cheaper than a new car. How long will I stay happy with it, though? Will I make it another 4-5 years? That's an old girl by then... but if she's looking mint, why not keep the old girl going? I love seeing classic, minty looking Hondas on the streets, regardless if they're slow.
The other thing is... I'm not really losing much, if any value on the car anymore. It's not as if I were to go buy a new/gently used car, and still have to watch it depreciate for the next 7 years, and kiss 30-40k goodbye.

It's still around. I'm probably gonna keep that girl stock. Unless I decide to go FI on it.. stock block can handle up to 600whp/500lbft, before she goes. I would shoot for the low 500hp/425lbft area... lots of reliable 370s out there with that, at like 7-9psi.
But I'm in rush to fuck with that car. I've decided I still need to get better at driving rwd before going crazy... I can't push the car to its limits like I can the TL... it's scary what I can do with that car

what your'e describing above is just flushing money down a toilet, Adam.
My personal opinion.
Don't polish a turd. Make the turd your best friend and love it and caress it and eat it.
rear window, do you NEED to put it down? Nope.
headlights, visibility, I get it...get those, or refinish yours.
master cylinder has an occasional problem.
don't fix the navi, buy a double din with reverse camera option...again, for safety...
wash and wax that bitch, overall from 15 feet it'll look great.
This is your daily fun to drive beater...treat it like it. The Nissmo is for perfection.
LOL...pushing RWD to it's limits?!!?
I just respect that ass that's all...don't give it any load under a cornering scenario unless you're hooning or trying to impress a girl.

Keep the TL, you already have a fun car (Jizzmo)
Just do it, don't be me (Flippy floppy)
I keep looking at the Accord like damn, my payments are under $275 a month on it. Do I go and blow 8k cash on a used car that I don't know what the issues could be in 2-3 years.
I have issues, I'm not afraid to admit it.

Ok, wait, I'm not looking to replace the TL with another beater. I'm thinking newer S4, Macan, etc. I will guaranteed lose at least 25-30k on either one of those cars. I'm looking to spend 12k to polish a turd I mostly like. And let's be honest... that's likely all I will lose on that car. I need new headlights... one of mine is totally fubar'd... yeah, it works as should, but it looks awful. It's a long story... I honestly feel that my TL looks like your A3 when you bought it. Well, not as bad, but still... you couldn't leave that sucker in the way it was. Plus, I feel like a baller on a budget... I hate seeing cars with mods on them, but the rest of the car looks like crap.
I'm not looking to make money, or anything. At the end of the day, yes, it will be 12k I burn. But what's the alternative? I burn 30k with a newer car, with half of it's warranty gone, and still make monthly payments on that sucker for probably 4 years, as opposed to getting the TL paid off in under 1 (well, really, I would just pay cash and get it over with). I don't see the logic with going for the newer vehicle. I mean, a 2 year old car gets hit with depreciation, but you're knocking 10-12k off the original price, not 50%. After that, it's still going to lose a ton... and payments... gah... payments.

man, I wish I had $12K I was willing to throw at a car!
Thanks for the compliment...beater Audi looking good!
Are you trying to fill a void?
Not saying the TL ain't worth it...but that's a sure fire loss on such an old car with no recoup...can't you just make it good enough to not be embarrassed?
Are you out of love with the 370 already?

Phuck it, I'll rebuild the TL. I need a modding project
I know it doesn't make sense, but at the same time... it does make sense. If anything, I'll slap on some new coilovers and *then* decide if I want to go through with the body work. Either way, I will still fix the couple electrical/mechanical problems. And really, it would be much cheaper if I don't buy a supercharger... so overall I don't think it's a bad idea.

No, no... I love the 370. I don't want to change anything on it, though. I'd love to pull that ol' girl out in 20 years, completely stock
But let's be honest, I'll probably sell it way before then
If I didn't have to worry about a DD, I would be getting a custom turbo kit built for the car... reviewed my options and would likely go with a single turbo (vs twin turbo or SC). There's actually a guy here in town that builds kits for 350s/370s/G35s/G37s... omg... some of the most well thought out and beautiful looking kits I've ever seen... his welding work is nothing short of artwork. His kit is also one of the cheapest... 8k US... probably need another 3k US in supporting mods... but den 525hp pushing a 3200 pound car, sitting on 10.5" wheels on the back...

I would consider the middle of the line ones... (advance?). I don't want another coilover where I can't adjust the dampening. That was a big regret in the past for me. It'd be nice to switch between "cruise" mode and "haul a$$" mode. the EDFC would be super cool, but that's only available for the most expensive Teins... though at $750US, the coilovers are still pretty cheap. I paid more for non-dampening adjustable coilovers on my '92 civic I dunno how EndlessRPM does it.

Take the mods one at a time.
Weren't you just trying to get out of a financial bind. I don't think dropping money on the TL is a good use of that moneys IMO
