The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (V)
I know it's probably a bias but, when the little Princess is in your car...you can NEVER go wrong with Baroque or Classical era (i.e. Mozart) Classical music. Master jazz (i.e. Brubeck, Davis, etc.) is also a great one.
Is it a coincidence that Little Cha is generally calm and cheerful? I dunno...but, growing up on jazz and Classical music could not have hurt.

Is getting a new car right after being unemployed for months and then getting a job really the best use of funds? Especially because you have a car already?

The car we are driving right now is on borrowed time, its good enough to get my gf to and from her job until she figures out what she is doing for a vehicle..
Your prob saying damn man spring and summer is near and the TL will be out soon.. Yes sure, but that car is not a daily driver by any means. Still needs some work just to pass inspection lol. I dont drive it in the rain so certain days here in the summer I wont be driving it due to weather.
long story short I need a reliable daily that will only need gas lol
Oh shit... Are you for real?!? I misread that...
You're falling into the classic Millennial trap jeffuckboi...
If you don't start making smart money choices early on in your life. You're going to be in a world of hurt in a few years brah.... Isn't the Acura EL the same as a civic? What kind of fucking problems can you have?! Fix the damn thing for the unicorn to drive (unless you have to pull the front bumper..) or on second thought, use your dealer discount and have some of the techs at work pull the front bumper for you!.
Un-slam your damn garage queen and DD it until you get a bigger better job and can afford to lease a CiviC hatchback Si hybrid with twin turbos

Fuck, Jeff, you can get a replacement engine and transmission for your EL for like $700. Get your hands dirty, fix the beater, pocket some coin, get a nice car when you actually can. Seriously, you have solid chance to learn how to fix cars (and remove front bumpers) now. The TL comes out soon, giving you the ability to have down time with the EL.
Fuck, I remember I found wifey a $300 base model 95 civic hatch with a blown engine, because she NEEDED a car to get to work, as she was working at various labs across the city at the time. I found an engine for $500, paid my buddy $300 to swap it, invested in some other miscellaneous parts and she had a totally functioning car for $1500 total. That fucker hit a deer on two separate occasions (prior to me buying it), looked like shit, but it drove and it lasted her well for 18 months. She needed a cheap solution so I found her one.
We ended up selling that fucker for $1300. She was $200 out of pocket, for 1.5 years of transportation.
just because you can lease the civic now, doesn't mean you should. What a terrible idea. Yeah, I know, the EL isn't a beauty queen. You're young, you're broke. A wise man once told me to not waste money on cars until you're well established... Because you end up with a "nice" car when you're young, and don't have a chance to move up for a long time. Drive shit when you're young and then buy nice when you have the means.. You'll end up with something much nicer that way.
i know you won't listen, but hey, you can't say we didn't warn you. And yeah, who leases a civic?

I would lease because I can just give it back whenever and the payment is low lol. I wouldnt want to finance it and be stuck with it.
EL needs prob $2000 in work.
TL is staying garage queen.

Unless your lease in total is less than $2000, this is an extremely idiotic idea..
But like taco said, youre not going to listen, so congrats on the new leased civic!!
In before the progress thread where you mod the fuck out of it and then have to remove it all before returning the lease

Why is the TL a garage queen? Because of the paint job? Meh.
OEM paint is flawless and yet you want to beat up brand new car paint, over a car you repainted and even noted had some imperfections.
Yeah... Makes sense... Right...

He gets parts for cheap now and is complaining about a 2k estimate, which likely was before he had this job and could get cheaper parts. Does that include labor? Or are you doing the work yourself? Something tells me you're not one to work on your cars (the whole front bumper thing), so yeah, you could do it even cheaper, if you tried.
do what you want, Jeff. I guarantee that eventually, once the new car "oohs and aahs" wear off, you'll be regretting your decision. I'm sure everyone of us has either been there or knows someone else who has.

jeez thanks guys
Was quoted for 3m job just for my front end was $1000 plus it always leaves a hard edge, I've seen the best 3m stuff on brand new white cars and can still see the edge.... not for me...
lease is zero down and like 70 a week lol. Im spending about that or more in gas and oil for the beater weekly. haha

$280 a month to rent a Civic?
I wonder what a loan for a 3 year old Fit would look like?
Leasing is great for an unreliable heavily depreciating car. Something that depreciates more over the lease than you pay into it. But a Civic? I don't see the sense in that. But that's just me.
Can you get dibs on a trade-in? Wonder if you keep your eyes open for a couple months and see if you can scoop up something that rolls in for cheap since the dealer won't need to prep and condition it for sale.
Win-win-win. Talk it over with your boss the next time you're under his desk for a performance review.

Jeff, I don't think you're going to get much buy in from us here. Sounds like everyone thinks it's a bad idea. Even if you're talking about loonies.
but ultimately it's your money and your debt.

And do it yourself. It's not rocket science. It's only hard on the bumper, but an a fairly straight panel like a hood or fender, it's pretty easy.
"I'm paying 280 a month, because I didn't like the line on my hood"
sorry. I had to.
and i think you guys are mis reading what I'm saying here..
we are keeping the EL. right now we are sharing it and its not working out. So I need to get something and since I work at Honda, may as well reap the benefits on a great deal...
The gf will be driving the EL until the inspection runs out which is in July and then we will decide what we want to do with it from there. Likely it will just end up being a throw away as the gf will be likely looking into a car at that time..
We each need a vehicle
Having the TL for the summer is just an added luxury that I've worked long and hard on to get it to where it is now
STOP HATING lol
