The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (V)
I was ready to make up piles of exaggerated accusations and lies about how crappy it is and the people who made it were <in nasally voice> biggest disasters since NAFTA and the worst tremendously worst in my opinion the worst since Hillary was born.
THIS is the bed we got...instead of my robot shelves...

The issue about these Trumpdayum "modern" looking beds is that with these stupid-@$$ foam mattresses these days, it's so high that it kinda covers a chunk of the headboard. Oops.
WELL, TOO RATE! NO EXCHANGES OR REFUNDS!

No sir...it's a Besta media unit for the TV room.
I will be buying the same series for the basement's eventual toy "dungeon".
But, not this year...being budgeted for next year since well, apparently, we need other higher-priority furniture items. Pfft. Who needs a bed (we sold the old POS Malm king to the buyers of the old place since there was no way in Trump I was going to take it apart to move that POS to the new place)...and apparently, the wife wanted something "better" than a Malm.

ours is now 6.5 years old, and should've went to the dumpster after 2. That shit is not made to handle being moved. It got to the point that those wooden slats you put the mattress on would just fall off the fucking frame and cause the mattress to sink. It's like the frame bowed out of shape or some shit. We've been talking about new, quality bedroom furniture for years now but we just keep putting off, until I started doing the "wood" wall.
Finally getting rid of this shit!! I'm gonna burn it on my driveway.

Our extra bedroom has Malm too
Betty's old apartment furniture, but it's been through 4 moves too...and with a bedinabox mattress on it, no less. Funny enough but when our OG tempurpedic started to sag (on the left side, bandana on the right side) I would go sleep on that cheap thing to help my back.
Our master has a platform bed frame I built myself in 2005. Took me about 2 weeks but I love it and it's so solid, we have no intentions of upgrading. I went to a west elm and saw a platform for $700...I was like, fuck that, I can make something cooler for $200. So I did.
basically, 2x6 as support...3/4" ply foundation, then mitred and routed edges with countersunk and hidden hardware. Comes apart in 3 pieces and my GOD is that thing heavy. We've had to move to the rental house (thanks Justin!) and then the current crib.

It looks good and it costs very little, Adam.
When you first put it together, it's solid enough.
I've personally beat the fuck out of my monkey on it for almost a decade and it's still comfortable enough for my mother to sleep in when she comes and visits.

As for a nice bed, checkout wayfair.ca. The Malm DOES look nice...but, to install is like watching a Trump speech. May as well shoot yourself. And you're completely right on about those wooden slats...3 of them snapped!! I had to go to a lumber store to buy a piece of wood to replace the snapped one.

It's not like I was jumping on the bed.

Anyways, yeah...the old Malm is the new owners' problem.
We initially fell in love with the structube stuff because when we moved into our current place a few years ago, it was near impossible to find rustic/reclaimed wood looking furniture. That, or it was horrendously expensive... Like 4K for a bed frame
then along came structube and we ended up getting a kitchen table, tv stand and coffee table in just the look we wanted, for a decent price. It seems more and more places have that rustic/reclaimed look, at good prices now, but the structube stuff has really stood up and it has served us well.
