Johnny...they were just these padded hooks I used to mount in the concrete block to hold up the wheels...
Now I have them just sitting on the wood shelving in the garage.

Ohhh... For some reason, I thought you had a rack like this:

Considering getting one but my A Specs don't have rubber on them yet so not sure if they will fit still. part of me says no

dude, look at the bottom bar...it's adjustable. Get it.
then, put a pool noodle or ac condenser line insulation on the bars to protect the wheels if you put them on it without tires.

I actually might consider that option too...although honestly, I don't have a lot of unused concrete wall real estate for that...

how much is that rack?

Well.. there's a lot of options on Amazon for about ~$150 but I went to TireRack directly and they have it for a mere 129! https://www.tirerack.com/accessories/detail.jsp?ID=164

Personally, I'd probably use the lag screws included straight into the stud and be okay.. you know.. just really pound it in there harder and harder and faster until it sits just right

I actually would have more confidence in that than the anchors into block...
I used to go every once in a while and look at them hanging to ensure they were not moving.

in the concrete? they were the expanding concrete anchors...run a lag in them and htey split.

here they are...the ones I had...probably $10 worth at home depot and have the rubber on the hook to protect the wheels.

i use them to hold up my kayak now.

same concept?

drill out, slide in...are those what lag shields are?
I'd be more afraid of them splitting the 2x4...

shiet...I run lag eye bolts into a palm tree and they hold my fat ass up in the hammock no problem.

Just thinking out loud as to whether or not it'd be overkill in wood studs

Same concern about splitting here.

I HAVE THE WHEELS! I bought them from G (paperboy) over a year ago: 8.5's to boot! i think one has a slight bend that needs fixing.. thinking about refinishing them all (powdercoating) and then mount some tires on them.

I thought you knew i had a set

I may have forgotten...
then why are you tempted by the 8"? so you won't have to refinish?

shiet...be a baller and have them PC'd white...

that's why i was so conflicted on the 18x8's.. for 4 bills?! so damn cheap!

4 bills should be more than enough to fix the bends and powdercoat the 8.5's I've got..
