Some time back, I had been laid off for a little while and finally got a jerb offer. Had to take a piss test the next day but went out to celebrate. Ended up getting food poisoning, pissing out of my ass and forcefully vomiting from my mouff. Never simultaneously, but there were a couple close calls where I wasn't certain which end to point down at the toilet.
Managed to drag ass into the piss lab right before they closed. Must have looked like a sweaty junky that gives $3 handies behind the dumpster at the Best Western (Kurt).
I'm truly thankful I didn't need to keister a rubber bladder of someone else's urine because I'm pretty sure it would have endedpoorly shitty.

Thanks!
I tried, but most likely failed.
couldn't get it warm enough...I should have bought hand warmers.

I was sad yesterday, cuz i went through all that trouble. and it didnt end up working.
on the very bright side, it was the type of work I lamented. reading magnetic tape to hard drive.

Dude. Community College - start taking one class at a time. Night school, online, whatever. Bang out the general BS requirements like English () and History and shit.

You don't need 4 years of school breh
You could go in so many different lanes and be working in 1 to 2 years
Several bootcamps that are just as strong or stronger than a 4 year degree to many employers
Or if considering medical, associates programs with good clinicals
That one I sent you a while back was 1.5 year program, not bad
Even if you did 4 years school, where you going to be in 4 years?
You gon be 30 something making the same ass wage you making
All these dumb motherfuckers here making bank
You have it in you vato

I'll tell you how pathetic it is to make money
My vatos son learned Python in HS along with Java and some other shit
He went to UT for a year in the ECE program
Dropped out to create a start-up.. it didn't float, but got a lot of buzz
Went back to school after 2 years.. but in that time he picked up a job doing Python
Python been around for a long ass time
But it's still widely used, no matter who says this is better..or it's being phased out.. it's not
I'm not trying to say you should learn Python.. but anyways..
The company paid him $60/ hr to code full-time.
He dropped the gig after a year because it was interfering with studies if you can believe that
Fucking kid is going places, but think about that.. a 20 year old.. making $60 / hr
From some shit he picked up in HS
If you want to get into programming / scripting.. you need to be all the way dedicated like it's a full-time job.
I can recommend some bootcamps near you with some clout, but you need to Goggins that shit.
Do some practice bootcamp shit, and maybe pick up a couple of udemy $9.99 specials just to get you started
There are so many lanes to get into that will elevate your game and blow up your pocket (Kurt)

I know where crabs at.. my coworker's husband is in the same place.. he's jumped from job to job.
Right now he's working at fb, he's been at apple, he worked for amazon, he's been in semicon..
He's even done a lot of non-tech jobs.
Now you may think.. oh he has the tools to be successful working at all these great places.
But in reality, he's jumping from ~20/ hr job to the next. He only works on shit that any monkey can do.
Just a seat filler essentially.
He has an associates in criminal justice I think
Doesn't have a big toolkit under his belt, no real tangible experience to get to the next level.
He 35.. has zero direction where to go. He looks at this or that, but doesn't commit.
I gave my coworker the same info so he can start somewhere.
But he won't bite. He's complacent. Not encouraged to get out there.
But not happy where he is.
You want to make more money, you want to have stability, well listen to us holmes.
We're giving you advice to get there. You can try coding for free, if you like it, make it a passion.
Find your passion.
Sometimes your passion is difficult to make a living from, either labor wise or a ceiling to the pay.
Either figure out how to grow or find a new passion. Not everything will make $$$.
You can't even make money succin dicc out here since Kurt moved here.

There's making some scratch to keep the lights on and food in the fridge, and then there's a career.
One isn't necessarily right for different people. I know plenty of folks that just bounce from odd job to odd job all the time and it suits some people just fine.
Not me though, I need longevity and some stability. So I made a plan and executed.
But the thing is to have a plan. Some people can just visualize and work big picture, but I've found that others need to go through the exercise of actually writing it down and taping it to the bathroom mirror or something so you see it every day.
I was half joking about the vision board. But that may actually work.
Do the stupid shit exercise. Grab a piece of paper, or yesterday's pizza box, or whatever, and write something down. Then start expanding on it. To do ____, in ____ years, I need to _____ and then _____ and then _____ so that I can _____. That sort of thing.

at 23, I did make a vision board...well it was just goals...for the next 10 years.
i'm about to hit 33 and Completed ALL of those goals, I set at 23.
I think the vision board is a great Idea.

The trick is to adjust those goals every couple of years, keep going

Hell, We can start a thread of "Acurazime Rambling Assholes Challenge Guidance to Making Career Changes and the School of Tough Love (Fuck Off Taco)" and work thorough it like some online college discussion board.
Give little tasks like, "Today your job is to list out five things you're passionate about and five things you don't like doing".
Then we'll force you to do degrading things before offering a next helpful tidbit.
Step through the process to end at a successful business plan.

I think the key is to accept that if work was something you wanted to do it wouldn't be called that.
Get a good schedule, something you can do and make fun in your head without too much traffic to get to it...
grind from 7 to 330 and then go feel fulfilled with your hobbies and passions after hours.
That's how I feel...I think if you chase fulfillment a la "you'll never work a day in your life" you'll be chasing
waterfalls and feel disappointed and just keep changing jobs because you don't feel like you've nailed it
ever.
Who knows...happiness is within no matter what you do and who you're around.

Since everyone is providing feedback, i'll do it as well. School isn't for everyone. I honestly hated collage.. I learned so much more of my practical day-to-day working skillset on the job. I also like working with my hands .
My exit strategy believe it or not, would be to switch gears and get out of the white collar job and go blue collar. Study and become a licensed GC, electrician, or plumber. Make dough. Too many millennials out there today that don't know how to do jack so the trades are dying...

You don't know about the apprentice life..
My vato was an electrician apprentice.. went back to driving trucks (CDL) after two years
The money wasn't good, and it wasn't guaranteed pay, almost day to day
So you can't guarantee your hours or your money
There's several levels to it.. but a wireman takes 4k hours, journeyman takes 8k hours, and master electrician takes 12k hours.
Even if you had a regular grind that's consistent.. that's at least 2 years for wireman, +4 years to journeyman, and +6 years for master
Pay is $20-30 on average from wireman to master electrician
That's decent pay, but it's a grind.
Need to really do your own thing and find your own niche / market where you can make a lot more or unlimited hours
Master plumbers is about the same grind.. need 8k hours for journeyman and the additional shit for master's license
All this needs to be signed off and under the supervision of another master tradesman
You don't need shit to be an apprentice, but they'll give you the shit jobs because they know you need the hours
Now if you love the work, do it.. you'll get there.. and at the end have a good source of income.
But it's back breaking.. on fucking ladders all day.. roofs.. in hot humid quarters.. attics, etc.
Deep cleaning peoples shit out pipes.. etc
Need to love it. Some locales.. you can make 100-200k.. or if you have your own business and get good leads
You can be very successful. But saturated locales is limited. Need to be flexible to get what you want pay wise.
