This isn't very relevant to the off-topic topic at hand, but anyone here know of any good places to buy appliances, aside from Lowes or Home Depot? I'm looking to get a range hood since the one I got with the house is a piece of shit and doesn't move nearly as much air as it needs to.

I used to get all my shit at Sears. But then they closed all of the Sears by me.

I guess there are stores that just sell appliances. I made the mistake of going to Fry's because I needed a special tri-wing mini screwdriver (of course it was as epic of a cluster fuck like usual) and noticed they had appliances. No screwdriver, but I could have gotten a washer and dryer.
I'd also check Amazon. Get that shit delivered in 2 days with Prime.

I've looked on Amazon too. I've got a few that are on the short list, but my biggest issue right now is that the Whirlpool I have is 5" tall and mounted to the underside of a cabinet. It sits about 31" off the cook surface (cabinet is ~36" off the cook surface). Most of the range hoods that move a good amount of air (and have good reviews) are around 10" tall - which now means I'd need to move the cabinet up ~5". That could work, but it could also look really weird in my kitchen:
As it is, I already hit my head on the hood I have, so anything sitting 5" lower is a non-starter. Ideally, I'd like to remove that cabinet entirely and do one of those large built in hood/cabinet things, but that's money I don't have right now (those fuckers are expensive).

I don't think I've ever seen cabinets do that upsie-downsie layout. But since those do, I bet you could easily get away with just bumping the middle section up without it looking too odd.
