@Majofo I think my drivebelt tensioner is making tons of noise so bought new OEM tensioner pulley and idler pulley. I should be good to replace just those rather than the entire assembly right? I got both pulleys for $30 versus getting a new full OEM assembly for another 110.

I was implying no such thing.
I don't know were I came up with that but it's pretty catchy!
Plus, Frantz always gets the girls to give up the franny...that's how he ended up being a dad.

I always test the belt first - water first. Sprinkle a little water on the belt while running, if it quiets down, it's shit. Also belt dressing - if it gets louder, shit.
This is usually the sign of belt contamination that's deteriorating the belt. Or high squelch on start, belt band is fraying / about to snap.
I then remove the belt, look for any belt shavings around each pulley. Feel the groves of the pulleys to make sure they're clean and smooth, then check for play.
Bearings should be solid and pulleys glide super smooth.
In regards to tensioner, you could check the spec, but I just replace the whole assembly. It's pretty common for the spec to go out after time.
I've never experienced the bearing going out in the tensioner. If the cost of the pulleys with bearings is like $5-10, why not give it a shot.
Just be prepared to buy the whole bih, don't be cheap and get an aftermarket one like I did that one time.

Nah definitely not belt noise.. more like bearing rattle.. Just not sure if it's the drive belt tensioner or the TB tensioner :X Oh well, already bought the pulleys, may as well just replace them and see if it goes away.. if not, i have new pulleys and need to do the TB anyway Already have most of the TB parts, just not the cam/crank/oil pump seals if i decide to replace them as well...
Gonna wait until I move into the new place to start the TB job though
Chapter Leader (Southern Region)
Is this on a TL?
Check the shim TSB, I'm sure you've seen it mentioned before.
There's probably some vids on the noise as well.
Never had an issue with that, but check it out before the TB job.

nah it' doesn't sound like a shim issue/chirping issue. Thanks anyway Maj. I'm going to diagnose first by removing the belt to see if the sound goes away, if it does, then it's pretty indicative that it's the tensioner that's bad.

Do the pulley visual, spins, and check for play to rule it out after you remove the drivebelt
You could check the tensioner spec, but that's up to you cuh

S2000 kinda buzzing noise at idle and under load in 1st and 2nd.
Goes away when pedal pressed and quiet in 3rd.
Throwout bearing?

buzzing? I would guess it's exhaust related before jumping directly to throwout bearing
