I had a Nakamichi 6-disc changer, single-DIN in my 240SX. It was quite the technology wonder at the time when every other 6-disc had a cartridge in the trunk or a double-DIN in the dash.
The thing sounded like a confused robot trying to get a dial-up connection whist crunching rocks when it would change discs.
wrrrrr-reeeeeee-rrrrrrrrrrr-whhhrrrwhhhrrrwhhhrrr, clickclickclickclick, reeeeeeeee whhhhrrrrrrrrrr clickclickclickclick...

Heh, yeah, those were the days. Fresh out of school with a new grown-up job, making grown-up money. So of course had to go buy an 8 year old sports sporty car and then put some toons in it. Went all Nakamichi with the MB-75 changer, a set of 6.5 coaxs and a set of 6.5 components for the front. All grey market from ebay, boxes show up with the SN/barcodes cut off. Dope shit.
Sheiit. ROI wasn't terrible though, I had that changer in my 240SX, then carried it over to my Taco when I got it and it damn near lasted until I sold the truck. Must have been about 13 years of use I got out of it. At the end, it started to not change discs and just spit out some error. Put it back on eBay and sold it for a few bucks. Still have the speakers collecting dust in the boxes. Some day I'll put them back on ebay where they belong.
Now I'm just #StockGang when it comes to audio.

Naw. Crutchfield was the shit for figuring out what fits and works in your car... but not for actually buying the shit. I remember I got all that Nak shit from a real shady feeling ebay seller. Didn't mention all the SN info was cut off and that they "fell off a truck". This was way back in the day when people would take checks for ebay auctions. When all the auction listings had to say something about "if you send a check, I'll ship 7 days after it clears" or some shit like that.
Worked out in the end, but it was an anxious week waiting for them to actually show up to realize I wasn't getting ripped off.

But damn if I can remember how I paid for stuff. But that was way back when every transaction was a gamble. Only spend as much as you're willing to lose.

That's no lie. Sheeiiit... I don't even remember how I paid for stuff in the early ebay days. Maybe was through ebay itself back then? But damn, my very first transaction on ebay, I won an auction for the OG Transformers TV show on DVD. And got ripped off - it never showed up and the seller went MIA.
But damn if I can remember how I paid for stuff. But that was way back when every transaction was a gamble. Only spend as much as you're willing to lose.

one of the first things I bought was a Sony cybershot 2mp...
I want to say that I might have had to send a CHECK to them...
Paypal started shortly thereafter...
and a couple years after that, amazon for my text books.
