3G got broken into this morning, Brooklyn NY!

As title states, my TL got broken into this morning. My brother and I were both sleeping and we did not hear an alarm go off. Car was parked in front of the house last night at 2:00AM. Cops came by and returned the missing GPS, Marc Jacobs sunglasses, and the assh*le stole my coin holder. Luckily, the cops caught the kid nearby and tracked it back to my home with our home address saved in the GPS. No shattered glass, thank goodness! just needed to vent, safe neighborhood but this is a wake-up call to always stay strapped and never let your guard down. Looking into setting security cameras around the house. A neighbor got her car broken into even in her own backyard. heads up to whoever lives in Brooklyn, NY sheepshead bay area.

Last time I remembered, there is no safe neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Thankfully, you found em. Make sure you call your insurance company and stuff.

sorry to hear that but glad the crook was caught. It seems to happening more in the so-called safe neighborhoods. Make sure car doors are locked and valuble items not in sight.

No garage, Brooklyn, car unlocked (apparently). Not surprised. Glad to hear they caught the punk. Too bad all he probably got was a slap on the hand and he will be stealing shit tomorrow.

woof that happened to my buddy but his was also in a nice area. kid was an idiot cuz he left a thank you note with his "tag name" on it. only ghetto wannabe nerd kid in an area pretty much narrows it down though lol. but atleast the cops caught the kid.

I agree, I live in military housing and they are numerous break-ins and vandalized cars every week.

Car was locked. Just grateful the NY's finest did their job! Economies tough, can't stop crime everywhere. Hope this doesn't happen to anybody else out there!

he's an idiot if that what he means but, we all say things out of anger at times without actually doing..

Using Brooklyn and safe in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

I would like to know how he got into your car.

OP said that he didn't hear the alarm go off....not that it didn't go off. Maybe they slept through it.

Glad it turned out as well as it did. It's a shame you can't look into building a garage instead of a security system....

Why did you leave a portable GPS visible? That's asking for trouble!

Glad they caught the shmuck.

omg, burn his hands!! Dip the thief's hands into a pot full of boiling oil >=[. Someone broke into my last Honda. Broke the window, got a nice $500 GPS, Cucci shades, and $1.50 in change. I leave nothing valuable in my car anymore even if it's parked in a garage. You never know who's watching.

Never leave anything valuable visible...
my hs neighbor told me that it's a new thing for kids (even rich ones) to go around neighborhoods and check for open doors. My guess is the car was left open...opening the TL with it locked/armed would require a real thief...not some punk kid they were able to track down with a GPS and Marc Jacobs' glasses?

Yes, will always make sure car is locked. Not leaving anything valuable and lesson learned for me. I am a peace-maker and it is just shocking and annoying to actually know someone is coming around your own neighborhood committing crime!

Don't let these people misinform you of their stereotypes. There are many many safe areas in Brooklyn with relatively low crime rates. And sheepshead bay and Brooklyn heights are one of those areas. Brooklyn just like any other town, city, borough has it's not so friendly areas.

Well, the people committing crimes aren't going to do it in their own neighborhoods' because they probably don't have nice things. I agree, a few incidents here and there are not a reason to say an area is no good. Times are tough right now and I'm telling you, this is probably some little rich kids trying to get an easy and cheap rush. Picture them running to tell their friends with their little stars and straps t shirts, and slightly tilted hats and ralph lauren sheets, telling them what "thug's" they are for walking thru the neighborhood and opening OPEN cars.

I am on exit 8 off the Belt Parkway too. Im on Ave U and on the East side near Bedford ave. I don't hate the neighborhood, it's nice none the less in NY, better than where I grew up from in the LES. @Donald, you're right about seeing lux cars around the area!
