Hi folks,
I bought my 2008 TL back in 2012, and there were no aftermarket mods that I am aware of. I've searched headlight problems on the 3Gs here, and the vast majority of posts are about HID, but I've got halogen.

Recently, the passenger headlight flickered and went out.

• It's a 9005 HB3, so I changed it with the same from Advance Auto. No difference. Double checked the old bulb (and the replacement bulb) with an ohmmeter, and I have continuity. The bulbs seem good.
• I swapped both the high beam and low beam fuses from the passenger side to the driver side, and no change. Fuses are good.

So I'm left with maybe a grounding issue (?) on the passenger side, some hidden relay, or some other mystery cause.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

 

the 9005 bulb is the DRL light, not the headlight, the headlight is still the D2S bulb.. You're replacing the wrong bulb

 

headlight is a bi-xenon setup with D2S HID's for Lo/Hi-beams and the fog/DRL is the halogen.

HOWEVER, the problem could be the ignitor or ballast or bulb. Take off the bumper and swap parts 1 by 1 from driver to passenger side. This way you can find the problem part and replace it rather than throwing parts at it blindly.
