I hope to get a video of this ass kicking to come. I had a friend call me and told me he has a friend who could out run any mustang around here. Now there is a Cobra around here pushing 100 rwhp more than the flywheel of the 370Z. Time to get put into their place I guess.

lol I just have a bolton maxima and I beat the local 370Z guy by half a second and 3-4 mph in the 1/8th mile. They're really not that quick. Mid 13s @ 104-106 seems to be pretty normal for them in the 1/4. That cobra on the other hand could pull 12s totally stock.

I own a Cobra. Thats why I laughed when I heard the talk. Heck, I could eat a burger, fries and a drink while granny shifting and beat that car. I would still like to video it so I can replay to him over and over. You guys know the story. Someone wins a race or two and then can't be beat... so they think.

Even a stock Cobra should take a fully bolted 370z with a great driver. He probably meant "Mustang" as in GTs...what a silly.

Do you have any work to your Terminator ? My good friend has a nice 03 Cobra Vert' with a Level 5 ported blower, bassani exhaust, short shifter, ect. Thing is fast, but un-launchable on street tires.

I wouldnt worry about a 370Z with a terminator if you can drive....

I have all the basics. Anything beyond where I'm at will set me out 6K or more. The car he wants to race has 450rwhp. You are correct on the launching issue. Its impossible with street tires and the traction control off. I've heard they may do it at a 40 roll. If this is the case, the nissan will need a paint job after the cobra rips it a new one.

450rwhp.....how does he think he has a chance? Even if the Cobra takes off as if normal driving, babies 1st gear, granny shifts 2nd THEN punches it, he will still easily win. Those cars come with 390hp which translates to ~330rwhp? Then another 100+whp??

From the factory they can run 12s. With 450rwhp and a tire, that's a low-mid 11 second car. The 370z even with every bolt on and slicks wouldn't break low 12s.

The 370Z is impressively quick for an NA V6 but the Terminator truly is in another league with only a couple of current models from Asian makes (mainly the Nissan GT-R and maybe the Lexus IS-F to a much lesser degree) being able to replicate its acceleration.

They actually dyno a good bit higher than they were rated, even a full bolton 370Z is not likely to give a STOCK terminator a race.

lol - is this a serious race? Owning a termi, I can tell you that you that the 370 will get his a$$ handed to him. Speaking from a personal experience, I have played with a 350Z before and with a 40 kick, I thought the dude hit his brakes. Its no race but worth hurting his feelings if he is serious about racing.

Honestly, even if he meant GTs, all they need (any year after 1999, really) is bolt ons and tires to be running 12s consistently.

Correct, a few guys have hit 107 close to 108 in the 1/4 and those are mainly the 7spd auto's. I need to take the Z to the track soon and see what I can muster out of it as my time in my signature below was when it had 5,000 miles, now it has over 14,000. As you know Vq's get stronger with miles!

Just an FYI, most bone stock 03 Cobra dyno ~ 360-370rwhp, and some even more than that.

They are about $1500 from 420rwhp and pretty easy mid/low 12's.

With a bigger blower (stock is 112 cubic inches or 1.8L) like a 2.8L they can make 650+rwhp pretty easily and on pump gas.

They are one of my favorite cars, the 03-04 Cobras. I've always wanted one.

I didn't know they were that underrated from the factory. That's a good 40 crank hp more than they are rated for ha.

I love putting people like the Z owner in their place. Around here if he made that claim of being able to beat any Mustang, there would be several 10-11 second street legal Mustangs waiting to take him up on that challenge. People like the Z owner are usually willing to bet money so make sure to set up a bet if the race has not happened yet to pay for the wasted gas.

Going on 5 weeks now and still no race. I think the guy has it hidden in the garage or something. I've been looking when I'm out but no luck. A mutual friend basically told him what the result would be and I think he chickened out. Sooner or later, we hope to see him out in his turtle (no disrespect to you Z guys), just this one.
