well, i pulled out in front of 350z and nailed it, he kept up behind, then he changed lanes, did not pass me, at about 110 he slowed and turned off.

350z is a tad lighter, a few more hp, and a tad more aerodynamic. my guess is he would have beat me at some point. i don't have mt.

350z 0-60 mph in 5.4 sec vs TL 0-60 mph in 5.7 sec. They have the advantage b/c they where build as a sports car , we on the other hand is a family car. But the TL has lot of potential. From a dead stop, better launch it more than 4500 rpm cuz u will kick traction before him( VSA off) but when 350 kick his traction in, it gones. From a rolling start, put it this way, Double clutch like hell after 3500 rpm! or u're dead.

I don't intend this in a mean way, but do you know what double-clutching is or why you would do it? Perhaps you are thinking of something that is called something else.

Here is a vid of a run we had back in June. Its pretty choppy at first, but about 2 min into the video a 350Z & a 2nd Gen. Supercharged TL-S go heads up. Red wasn't ready the first race, but the second they were pretty close

Double Clutching

achonda 2_4

"Double clutching" is a technique mainly used in aggressive down-shifting (like from 5th to 2nd to take a corner) to achieve rev-matching between the engine and the transmission. It won't make any difference in quick acceleration! For more details please refer to the following article:

I ran one with my 6mt with CAI. He had a passenger and I didn't. We only ran on the move (not off the line, in which case, I'm sure the result would have been different). In 2 of the 3 runs, we didn't hit it at the same time, and whichever one hit it first just kept pulling. In the 3rd run, I believe we were in 3rd on the highway, and we managed to roll into it at the same time. I inched on him very slowly and I might have pulled 3/4 of a car to 95mph. I'd say without the passenger, he probably would have inched on me, and if you believe the CAI gives you 12hp at the wheel (as Injen claims), he'd surely have beaten me without it. 5at... Forget it.

I owned a '03 350Z 6mt before trading it for the '04 TL 6mt. I had the 350Z up to 125mph before I ran out of road. I felt like I was sitting in a chair in my home. No buffeting, smooth as glass ride. I have yet to take the TL to 100mph, mainly because I don't feel as confident with the suspension being able to handle the speed. The Tl has a softer ride in comparison. The quickness of both cars is close but I would give the edge to the 350Z although just slightly.

I was pretty even with a stock (I think) Z on the Expressway up to around 110mph. We both switched to another Expressway at which point he did not keep up around a long, long turn. There is plenty of buffer room on either side so I figured I'd give it a shot with the TL. I felt like it was going to lose it but it did stick nicely around the turn at about 100mph.

Very scary but I am much more confident in the handling of this car since then. I didn't see the Z after that, he must have thought I was fucking crazy... which I am.

isnt the 5.7 for the 6MT TL's? I still think the 350z will have a better edge since alot of Z drivers get 1/4 times of 13.8 or better...

The best TL got around 14.1 so thats only 3 car-lengths behind. Pretty close...er at least till the curves appear.

If that is your version of taking an indirect shot at my post, please note that the Z driver obviously slowed down intentionally approaching the turn. I thought that would have been apparent to everyone., but I should have made sure to put that in there.

If I mistook your intentions, then my apologies. If I was correct then next time please pull up your skirt and say what you mean.

Relax dude. I didn't even read your post. I was just playin because these comparisons are pretty amusing. I can't believe we're even comparing a purpose built sports car to a fwd sports luxury sedan.

Then like I said, my apologies.

Just read my post and then yours. I thought it was a sarcastic remark regarding me losing the Z in a turn.

I agree, no reason to compare a Z and TL. But as long as they are two cars on the road, they will be compared by someone.
