3 Gl TL question

Good afternoon all. I wanted to know if 2004-2008 TLs are all known for transmission issues or if there was a year where it was not a prevalent. I know it’s been an ongoing issue since the early models of the car but wanted to know if there was any hope that an automatic 3g TL should be considered.

Some folks will tell you there are few if any issues, others will tell you the 2004-2006 automatics have an issue while the 2007 and 2008 automatics are quite robust; to that the first group of folks will tell you the transmissions are the same. Back to the second group of folks, they'll tell you to either shop for a 2007-2008 or, if you fall in love with a 2004-2006, save up to replace the transmission with an Accord V6 (aka AV6) automatic from the 2006-2007 model year (it will bolt right in with just a sensor change or two). Personally I avoided the entire issue by buying one with a manual transmission.

I say buy a 6spd.

There are some members pushing or are over 200k miles on their original tranny. Then, you have some who are on their 2nd replacement. I have a buddy who just rebuilt his tranny and he has 140k on the dash.

07-08 is the best bet, if you don't want a manual. IMO it would give me a piece of mind owning a 6Spd or 07-08. I had an 03 which had the transmission replaced twice (not by me thank god)

There is no year that is immune to transmission problems. I've seen 04-08 transmissions requiring a rebuild.
However, your chances of having to rebuild your transmission with an 07/08 is a lot slimmer.

The 07/08 have been much less prone to problems. My 07 has over 260,000 miles and I have only had to do routine 3 x 3 fluid service initially at 60,000 and then every 30,000. Great car!

I 2nd quantum. I personally have an 07 which has a 124 and change on it and a daily driver I drive approximately a 112 or so miles a day. All transmissions or should I say anything mechanical/electrical will eventually have a problem. A Car is very much like the human body. As we get older things stop working the way they were intended to. As I said my car is a daily driver, i do my transmission fluid changes and keep up with maintenance. She is a great car. More reliable than my BMW any day.

I agree with the comments saying get a 6MT. The car is lot more enjoyable with the manual transmission.

I have a 2005 110k and it shifts alright. Runs redline ATF. You're better off getting something newer. Resale and all that b******t.
