3 days?????

That's how long I had my brand new, 2008 NBP TLS before it got rear-ended. Sitting in horrible traffic tonight on Constitution Ave, not 2 blocks from the White House, and I felt the bump. My heart just sank. Icy weather here in DC tonight and someone just slid into me. I guess if there's a silver lining in the cloud it's that the damage was very minor. Just a couple of scratches at the bottom of the bumper. Barely even noticeable. But dammit is SUCKS!!!!!!!!! Now I get to deal with insurance agents and repair shops instead of enjoying my new car.

Anyone have any idea if they'll replace my whole bumper or just paint it?

well the silver lining should be that no one got hurt!!

sucks to hear about the accident tho. since you say the damage is minimal with just scratches they will probably just paint the bumper. 2 summers ago i got rear ended in my 2003 tl by a jeep cherokee, it was more than a little bump, but fortunately there were only scratches on my bumper and on hers. she didnt want to go through insurance and was willing to pay cash so I just got a couple of quotes, faxed them over to her..$400 later i had a newly painted bumper

btw hope u were on your way back from voting!!

Three days is not the record. My sister in law was in an accident driving her new car home from the dealership. The body shop said he had never seen a car with such low mileage.

Sorry about your car, but play4real is right. Count your blessings that noone was hurt and your car can be fixed.

thank god for LI, breast augmentation, and rich husbands -

buttttt it DID suck that i didnt have the car for more than a day and got a dent

Actually I was on my way to vote. Thanks to the bad weather, terrible traffic, and accident, I never made it. But as you guys have said, at least no one got hurt. I'm sure I'll still enjoy my drive to work in the morning, despite the scratches!!

Depends on the extent of the damage.....I was rear-ended in my 2006 TL on busy highway.....bumper-to-bumper traffic---we were all going about 10-15 mph when bam....rear-ended by an old bat...she claimed that her dog jumped on her lap and distracted her....anyway....took it to the local dealership and was given an estimate on damage and was later called several days later to be told that there was more internal bumper damage then was originally stated....they replaced the whole rear bumper with a new one....I wasn't complaining....prefered new one to the old spit, paint and polish...

^ beats me... my nbp was like 20 days old when i got rear-ended... it was like $10k in damage though lol

sounds like a typical ice/snow slide... im sure even if they replaced the bumper, its like a $600~ MAX estimate...

The worst horror story of a new car getting trashed was one of the sales reps at a local dealer. He bought a brand new BMW 5 series and paid it in cash in full. He drives home and a deer jumps out in front of him, the car is totaled.

He gets reimbursed from his insurance company, they gave him 10,000$ less than what he had just paid for the car, even though it was brand new.

He lost out on a new car and worse yet 10,000$.

why would u want ur claim to be so high with a new bumper black? thats retarded (3 days or not) better off paying 250-350 to get it painted out of pocket and tell the jerk off who hit u to fu** off. the body shop is going to take ur old bumper n sell it n profit way more than youd want them to and youd get a great big fu** u and stuck paying a deductable.

I would assume that he is dealing with the other person's insurance company and not his. Since he is not at fault, it should be covered by the other person's insurance company and it doesn't matter to him how high the claim is as it does not affect his insurance rate. He should have no out of pocket costs for an incident in which he was not at fault.

Correct me if I am mistaken here

Im pretty sure you dont call his insurance company and send them papers..... unless u get a lawyer involved..... at which point your really suing your company and then in turn they go n sue the other guys company for the money they just dished out for u to fix the car... ur still stuck paying a deductible.

i have been hit where it wasnt my fault...i dealt directly with their insurance company and not with mine....no deductible was paid...

demand a new bumper unless yours is just scratched...i would also ask them to paint it off the car to avoid overspray and blending...

Yes, the other driver's insurance will be paying for the damage. My insurance company will not be involved at all.

That's a real bummer. This is what happened to me, but the guy ended up running away. Anyways, insurance ended up giving me $350 after $100 deductible and I bought an Aspec lip kit to cover the damages as Aspec still requires drilling holes in the exact place of the damage anyways. If it's low damage, you may want to consider the rear Aspec lip that covers the lower half of the bumper.

Sorry to hear about the bump. Enjoy the car!

I'm not sure if it was here, but there was a guy who backed his new car into a light pole when he went to pick it up. Crunched it pretty good. He didn't even get a chance to drive it in Drive (forward).

I didn't really think about that. Interesting idea. The damage is very low on the bumper so that might work. I'll have to check it out.

not a bad idea...does the aspec lip come pre painted....if soo, that would be my choice...that way there is not painting from a body shop...not that a body shop cant do a good job, but factory is factory...

How do you think it would look to have the A-spec rear lip, but leaving the rest stock?

My thoughts at first too because insurance thought I had a lien holder and wouldn't give me the money directly. In that case, I would have had to have a shop order the parts and put it on for me. The lip itself is about $280 shipped with factory matched paint from online acura oem part dealers. I ended up with an insurance check for $350 so I just put it towards a full aspec body kit on group buy for $803 shipped from hondaacuraworld. That's the best bang for the buck.
